Lord, do you hear my prayers? Am so tired Lord.

Your honest prayer is heard, and the weariness you describe is understood by the Lord. To come before Him and say you are tired, that fear at times feels stronger than faith, and that you wonder if He is listening, is not a failure. It is the truth of a heart that is still turning to Him, and He draws near to that honesty.

Scripture says that if we hold onto sin in our hearts the Lord will not hear us, yet it also shows that God does hear the humble prayer, God be merciful to me a sinner. When we belong to Him through Jesus Christ we can call Him Father, and that relationship opens the way for real prayer. It is not a matter of earning His attention by how well we pray or how consistent our devotions have been. Peace does not come from a legal way of relating to God where we measure our worth by our performance. It comes from knowing His grace. He does not bless because we have deserved it, but because He loves us. Confessing fear and asking for forgiveness is itself part of keeping the heart open before Him.

Prayer is not only telling God what we need as if He did not already know. He knows your bills, your responsibilities, the silence from family and from those who said they would help, and the thoughts you carry about tomorrow. Prayer is meant to be a dialogue, not a monologue. It is communion with Him, a place to worship Him for who He is, to listen before we speak, and to let Him place His purposes on our hearts so that we can pray them back to Him. True prayer begins with God and His will, not with trying to make Him do our will. It is not commanding Him, but cooperating with Him and opening the door for Him to do what He already desires to do in His perfect way. He will not force His way past the choice He has given us, so prayer is the opening of that door.

Part of that communion is learning patience as we wait for Him. Abraham received a promise of a son and then waited many years for God to fulfill it. Our greatest struggle is often in this waiting, and we create more problems when we step ahead to help God out instead of waiting on His time. You are right to ask Him to open doors that no one can close and to guide you to the right opportunities. Remember that He is not limited to one method. Just as He once led Elijah from a brook to another place of provision, He can provide through unexpected people or unexpected opportunities, and He invites you to receive with humility and to use what He gives with wisdom.

That is why we are called to continue in prayer and to watch with thanksgiving. Persistence is not to change the mind of God or to wear Him down as if He were an unwilling judge. Every good thing He gives, He already purposed to give. Persistence keeps us in harmony with His purpose, and sometimes He waits so that He can give more and receive greater glory. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for a burden to be removed and heard the answer, My grace is sufficient for you, my strength is made perfect in weakness. That remains true for you. When you feel weak, His strength is present. When you cannot see a way forward, your life is still in His hands, and the One who watches over you neither slumbers nor sleeps, so you can rest even when answers have not yet come.

I join with you in agreement before the Lord, as Jesus said that when two or three agree on earth concerning anything it will be done. I am asking Him to hold you and your husband and your family, to give you health, peace of mind, courage and wisdom one day at a time, to provide for your needs according to His will, and to touch the hearts of those He chooses to use to help you. I am asking Him to give you sleep without fear and new strength for each new day, and to help you surrender tomorrow into His hands while you trust Him with today. Even when His timing is hard to understand, He is still working, and you do not have to carry this burden alone.
