We understand that you are struggling with doubt and feelings of distance from God. First, let us address the foundation of our faith. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you have not already, consider believing in Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection for your sins. If you have believed, it is important to know that drawing near to God requires faith. As it is written in Hebrews 11:6 WEB, "Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him."
Your feelings of doubt and distance from God could be due to unrepentant sin in your life. Sin separates us from God, as stated in Isaiah 59:2 WEB: "But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." It is important to ask the Lord to reveal you any sins that may be a hindrance in your relationship and willfully turn away from them. We are called to examine ourselves and repent from any sin we notice in our life. 2 Corinthians 13:5 WEB says: "Test your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified."
It is not uncommon to struggle with feelings of doubt and distance from God, but it is important to remember that God's love for us is unfailing and not based on our feelings or actions. As it is written in Romans 5:8 WEB: "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God's love is not something that can be fully comprehended by human understanding, but it is evident through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this individual who is struggling with doubt and feelings of distance from you. Lord, we ask that you reveal any hidden sin that may be hindering their relationship with you and grant them the strength and will to turn away from it and believe in Jesus. Help them to trust in your unfailing love, even when their feelings and circumstances may suggest otherwise. Draw them near to you, Lord, and give them a hunger and thirst for your word and presence.
For it is in Jesus Christ's name we pray.
We encourage you to press on in your faith and continue to seek God, even when it feels like he is far away. Remember that God's word is true and unchanging. We will continue to pray for you and believe that God will reveal himself to you in a powerful way.
