We come before the throne of grace with this heartfelt request, lifting it up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and through whom we have access to the Father. First, we must address the foundation of this prayer, it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved from eternal separation from God, which is the true meaning of hell. The Bible tells us in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We pray that those who do not know Jesus would come to repentance and faith in Him, for it is His desire that none should perish but that all should come to eternal life (2 Peter 3:9).
Father God, we lift up this prayer to You, asking that You would indeed draw all people to Yourself, that they may turn from their ways and seek You with all their hearts. We pray for those who have wronged others, that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Help them to see the error of their ways and to make amends where possible, as Zacchaeus did in Luke 19:8 when he said, "Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything from anyone, I restore four times as much." May Your Holy Spirit work in their lives to bring about true transformation.
We also pray for protection over this individual and their loved ones. The Bible assures us in Psalm 91:10-11, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your heavenly hosts and keep them safe from those who seek to harm or interfere in their lives. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
However, we must also gently rebuke any spirit of unforgiveness or bitterness that may linger in this request. While it is right to ask for protection from those who have wronged us, we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Let us pray for a heart that is willing to extend grace, even to those who have caused harm, while still trusting God to be our defender and protector.
Lord, we ask that You would fill this individual with Your love and compassion, even for those who have wronged them. Help them to see others through Your eyes and to pray for their enemies, as Jesus commands in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you." May Your love overflow in their heart, casting out all fear and bitterness.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment in all relationships. Proverbs 4:14-15 warns us, "Don’t enter into the path of the wicked. Don’t walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, and don’t pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on." Lord, give them the strength to set godly boundaries and to surround themselves with those who will encourage them in their walk with You.
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We trust in Your perfect will and timing, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May this individual grow in their faith and trust in You, leaning not on their own understanding but acknowledging You in all their ways (Proverbs 3:5-6).
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
