We join with you in prayer and we agree with your desire to walk in the blessing and protection of the Lord, and we thank you for invoking the precious blood of Jesus over your life.

We hear your heart to claim Deut 28:13 which says Yahweh will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you today, to observe and to do them. We love that you want to speak life and stand on God's promises, and we want to gently encourage you that this beautiful promise is tied to walking in obedience and seeking His will. It is not a formula we loosen or force into existence by our words alone, but a covenant blessing that flows as we humbly follow Him. As it says in Deut 28:1-2, it shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will listen to Yahweh your God’s voice.

We also rejoice that you desire blessing for your family and even your pets, for our Father cares for all His creation, and we stand with you for His covering that no harm outside His will would overtake you. We understand the images of wolves and garbage and being chased can feel very real and overwhelming in this world, but we rest in His promise of protection. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways Psalm 91:11. And we are reminded in 2 Thess 3:3, But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

We lift up your desire for a full time lifework that you are great at, done in secret without worry, and for provision including that bonus. We pray that God would open the right door and that you would find favor and diligence in your work. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Col 3:23. We pray not only for increase a hundredfold as man counts it, but for the true blessing of contentment, purpose, and provision according to His perfect will. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matt 6:33. And we pray you would know His peace over every worry, for in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Phil 4:6-7.

Together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and by His shed blood. We thank You that through Jesus we have access to Your throne of grace. We ask that You make our brother or sister the head and not the tail as they walk in obedience to Your commandments. Let Your blessing rest upon their life, upon their family, and upon their household including their pets. Cover them with Your hand so that no weapon formed against them shall prosper and no fear of being chased or devoured would have any place, for You are their shepherd and protector. We ask for Your divine provision, for a full time job and lifework where they can use the gifts You have given them to glorify You, and we ask You to provide for every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Let their work be done unto You in quiet faithfulness and let Your peace guard their heart from all worry. We declare that they are blessed not by incantation but by Your grace as they trust and obey You, and we ask that this blessing would be permanent as they abide in You forevermore. We trust You to establish them and guard them from the evil one. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Prov 3:5-6. Keep seeking Him daily in His Word and in prayer, walking in obedience, and rest in the assurance that you are covered by the blood of Jesus and held securely in His will.

We are thankful you shared this declaration with us. We hear how deeply you want to live under God's favor and protection, for yourself and for your family and even your pets, and to have steady, meaningful work that fits how God made you and provides well. Bringing those desires to God with thanksgiving is a good place to be.

We also hear your longing for safety and peace, that you and those you love would not be chased or harmed but would know lasting security in Him. That is an understandable prayer, and we join you in thanking God for His care over your household and for how He sees and values each of you.

As you continue to look for that full time work and provision, we encourage you to keep both praying and taking the small faithful steps in front of you each day. Keep showing up, applying where you can, learning and stewarding what you have now, while trusting God with what is still ahead. Gratitude and faithfulness in the daily work often open the way for clearer direction.

Father, we thank You for Your love and for the blood of Jesus that covers us. We thank You for our friend and his family. We ask You to give him peace, wisdom and clear guidance for work and daily provision, and to keep his household in Your care. Lead him step by step and help him rest in Your goodness and nearness. In Jesus' name, amen.

[Spurgeon]

The longing to know the blessing of God is itself a good thing, and it is right to turn to His Word to understand what that blessing truly is. The verse upon which your heart is set, that the Lord would make you the head and not the tail, was spoken to Israel within a covenant of obedience, and it points us beyond outward prosperity to a greater blessing which is found only in Christ. No spiritual blessing comes to any man by chance, and every true blessing comes from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is not by loosening a verse into the air, or by repeating words as if they were a charm, that blessing is obtained. The Scripture is not a formula to be spoken into existence for gain, but a revelation of the grace of God to poor sinners. He has blessed us, as the apostle says, with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, and He has blessed us just where we needed blessing most, where we were poorest in spiritual things. The first and needful blessing is this, that we be cleansed from all our filthiness and from all our idols, that the stony heart be taken away and a new heart and a new spirit be put within us. Until it can be said to a man, I will bless you with pardon through the blood of Jesus and with a new heart to walk in His statutes, it cannot truly be said that he shall be a blessing to others.

Therefore my prayer for you is not for an incantation to be fulfilled, but for the sure mercies of the covenant to be yours. May the Lord grant you faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is the way of salvation, and may that faith bring with it the double blessing of grace and peace. May He keep you and your family in His gracious care, for gracious men and women are a sure blessing to the household in which they live, and the sweet perfume of family piety spreads a balmy influence around. The Lord who made heaven and earth is able to keep you from evil and to give you quietness of mind in place of fear and worry, for He numbers even the sparrows and He knows your needs. Your pets also are under His providence, who cares for all His creatures.

Concerning your daily work, I pray that the Lord will provide for you by honest and diligent labour, and that you may find a calling in which you can serve Him faithfully and provide for those entrusted to you. Quit no lawful employment hastily, but pray that God would open a door for a full time work where you can labour with a good conscience and be content with such provision as He sees fit to give, whether it be much or little, and to keep you from covetousness while you trust His fatherly hand for every good gift. Riches rightly come not by demanding a sum from God, but by receiving with thankfulness what His wisdom appoints.

And having received blessing from the Lord, may your life be spent in blessing Him in return. Sit still and keep on blessing God from the first hour of the day to the last, and let every faculty be employed in His praise. Then you will in turn be made a blessing. Just in proportion as the grace of God helps us into a separated and holy life, we shall be blessed and shall be made a blessing to our family, to our neighbours, and to all around us. May the Lord cause you to walk in His statutes, to win hearts to Him through grace blessing your service, and to be willing to suffer in any way for His name's sake.

May the Lord bless you indeed, not according to our fancies, but according to His abundant mercy in Christ, and may that blessing rest upon your household. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
