'Looking to Bless' - Mark 5:30-34

Nobody is reading this thread right now.

[When the woman who had suffered bleeding for twelve years touched his robe,] Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my robe?"
His disciples said to him, "Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, 'Who touched me?'"

But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over."

Mark 5:30-34 NLT

Key Thought

At first glance, we can misinterpret Jesus' intentions. Some have said that Jesus is just trying to make sure others see that he has done a great miracle. However, if we listen to the Spirit's message in this event, we see that Jesus is looking to bless this woman for her demonstration of faith. Affirmation abounds for steps taken in faith in the New Testament. Now if we can just make steps of faith abound in our churches and families!

Today's Prayer

Loving God, thank you for adopting me into your people and your family. Use me to help welcome others who come to be a part of your people of faith. Use me to bless and affirm their efforts to honor you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
