Thank you for sharing so openly about what your family is carrying. It is clear you love both your mother and your father and you want to honor them well, even when it feels difficult and heavy.

Caring for parents as they age and struggle with health is part of what Scripture calls showing piety at home and repaying them for all they have done. It says this is good and acceptable before God, and that children are to obey and honor their parents in the Lord, for this is right. That does not mean every demand is to be followed if it goes against what is right before God, but it does mean approaching them with respect, patience and a willing heart even when there is tension. When your mother seems not to understand your father's limits, and when you feel caught in the middle, the Lord sees your desire to do what is right.

Your father's weakness, that some days he can barely stand, and the eye and hearing struggles both your parents face, along with your mother's coming foot surgery and even the small thing like a toenail appointment, are all matters to bring to the Lord. Please do not think that ongoing health problems mean a lack of faith or a lack of devotion. Some of the most faithful and sweetest Christians live with great physical weakness. We cannot equate spiritual health with physical health. God's ways are not our ways, and we cannot fully understand why He allows illness or why He takes some early and others later in life. We do live in bodies that age and grow weak, and healing ultimately rests in His hands. He is the Lord who heals, and He has given us wisdom for caring for our bodies, yet even when healing does not come as we hope, we can trust His love and purpose.

There is a greeting in the letter of John where he prays that his friend may prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers. That was a personal wish of love, not a guarantee that faith always brings perfect health, but it does remind us there is a real connection between the health of our soul and the health of our body. Walking in truth, keeping a heart at peace before the Lord, and guarding our attitudes can affect us deeply, and there is great joy when we walk with Him day by day.

You mentioned being asked to take more responsibility for schedules and worrying that you will make mistakes. It is understandable to feel anxious about that. There are times when no one wants to carry responsibility because it is hard and it can bring criticism, but love takes it up anyway and learns step by step. God does not ask for perfection, He asks for faithfulness. Do what you can with care, keep clear notes, ask for help when you need it, and trust Him to cover what you miss. He will help you grow in this.

I am praying with you for protection over your home, that nothing would be broken or stolen, for the plants and the house while you were away, for wisdom about the vehicle your family needs with enough interior room to keep things safe and covered, and for the weather and the days ahead to allow you to get done what needs to be done. I am praying especially for your father for strength for each day, for both your parents for their eyes and ears, and for your mother's surgery that it would go well and bring healing.

May the Lord give you peace as you trust Him, grace to honor your parents with love, and strength for each responsibility He places in your hands. May He draw your whole family closer to Himself and to one another as you walk in His truth.

Father, I lift this family to You. You know the strain between mother and father, the father's weakness and pain, the mother's needs and her coming surgery, and the worry about schedules and daily tasks. Comfort them and help them to honor one another in love. Provide for their needs for transportation and for their home, guard what belongs to them, and give favorable conditions for what they need to do. Touch their bodies, their eyes and ears, and bring healing according to Your will. Give this dear one wisdom, calm and confidence as they help with responsibilities, and let their soul prosper as they walk with You. In Jesus name, Amen.
