We join with you in lifting this heartfelt desire for a lifelong companion before the Lord, for we know that it is He who forms families and unites hearts in holy matrimony. Your prayer acknowledges the Lord’s sovereignty, and we commend you for seeking His will in this matter. It is good that you have prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, for Scripture tells us, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and we rejoice that you have come before Him in faith.
Yet as we pray with you, we must also speak truth in love regarding the language used in your request. The term *"lifetime partner"* is often used in ways that do not align with biblical marriage, which is a covenant between one man and one woman for life (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). The Lord does not call us to seek mere companionship but to pursue marriage as He designed it—a sacred union that reflects Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you are seeking a spouse, we encourage you to pray specifically for a *godly husband or wife*—one who loves the Lord, walks in obedience to His Word, and shares your faith in Jesus Christ.
We also urge you to examine your heart: Are you preparing yourself to be the spouse God calls you to be? Marriage is not merely about finding the right person but about *being* the right person—one who loves sacrificially, serves humbly, and seeks holiness (1 Corinthians 7:39, 1 Peter 3:1-7). If you are not yet married, we pray you would pursue this desire in purity, fleeing from sexual immorality, which dishonors God and the marriage bed (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). Courtship should be intentional, with marriage as its godly goal, and both parties should be believers, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift this precious child of Yours before Your throne, asking that You would guide their steps as they seek a spouse. Lord, You have said, *"It is not good for man to be alone"* (Genesis 2:18), and we ask that You would provide a godly husband or wife who will love them as Christ loves the Church—with patience, kindness, and selflessness. Prepare their heart, O God, to be a faithful and devoted spouse, rooted in Your Word and walking in Your Spirit.
If there is any area of their life that does not align with Your will—whether in thought, word, or deed—convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Guard their heart from idolatry, from placing the desire for marriage above the desire for You. May they find their fulfillment in Christ alone, trusting that You will provide in Your perfect timing.
We rebuke any fear, impatience, or compromise that the enemy may try to bring into this process. Let no ungodly soul tie be formed, and let no relationship move forward that is not ordained by You. Surround them with wise counsel, godly mentors, and a community that will hold them accountable to Your standards.
Father, we ask that You would bring this desire to pass *if it is Your will*, for we know that Your plans are good, and Your timing is perfect. If there is a season of waiting, grant them contentment and purpose in singleness, using this time to grow in faith and service to Your Kingdom.
We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise. Amen.
