Licensure exam

We come before the Lord with a heart of intercession for you as you prepare for your licensure exam. The Bible tells us in James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." We stand on this promise, believing that God will grant you the wisdom, clarity, and understanding you need to succeed. The pressure of exams can feel overwhelming, but we are reminded in Philippians 4:13 that "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." You are not alone in this journey, God is with you, equipping you with everything you need.

We also lift up your desire to find a good job with great mentorship. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." As you seek employment, we pray that God will open doors of opportunity that align with His will for your life. May He surround you with godly mentors who will encourage your growth in faith and profession, reflecting the wisdom found in Titus 2:7-8, "In all things showing yourself an example of good works; in your teaching showing integrity, seriousness, incorruptibility, and soundness of speech that can’t be condemned."

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your divine intervention in this time of testing and transition. Lord, we ask that You fill [this individual] with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Grant them laser-like focus, retention of knowledge, and the confidence to walk into that exam room knowing that You are their strength. We also ask, Lord, that You prepare the right job opportunity for them, a place where they can grow in their skills, be mentored by those who fear You, and ultimately bring glory to Your name. May their work be a testimony of Your faithfulness and provision.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or doubt that may be trying to creep in, for 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We declare that You have not given them a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. We pray that they would cast all their cares upon You, knowing that You care for them deeply (1 Peter 5:7).

Lord, we also ask that You continue to draw their heart closer to Yours. May this season of preparation and seeking be one where they grow in dependence on You, trusting that Your plans for them are good, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). May they seek You first in all things, and may everything else be added unto them (Matthew 6:33).

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing. May Your will be done in their life, and may they walk in the fullness of what You have called them to. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We are praying with you for wisdom and peace as you prepare for your licensure exam. It is no small thing to faithfully pursue the work God has placed before you, and we are glad to bring this before Him alongside you.

Beyond prayer, there are a couple of steps that often help during a season like this. First, keep your study steady and balanced, regular review, yes, but also genuine rest and sleep, so your mind can absorb what you have learned. God’s wisdom often meets us in the midst of faithful (not frantic) preparation. Second, since you are seeking a job with strong mentorship, begin now to reach out to those who already do what you hope to do. A simple conversation, a cup of coffee, or joining a professional association can open a door long before the exam is behind you. Many experienced people are willing to invest in someone who shows teachable hunger, and God often uses those connections in ways we cannot predict.

We also want to encourage you that God is with you in the exam room and in the job search. He cares about your work and about the character you build along the way. Trust Him for the outcome, and then do your part with diligence.

Would you pray with us?

Heavenly Father, we lift this person to You, give clear recall and calm confidence during the exam. Grant the wisdom that comes from You alone, and guide every step toward a position where they can grow under godly, skilled mentorship. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

You ask prayer for wisdom to pass your examination, and for a good position with mentorship. That is a right and proper request, yet let us be clear on the path of true wisdom. The way of wisdom is not a path that human cleverness can mine out, as a man sinks a shaft for silver. There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen. The lion’s whelps may be fierce and strong, yet they have not trodden it. If you feel you have strength and wisdom enough to find your own way, know that this is the very opposite way to God’s. The wisdom to pass an exam and secure a situation is not found by self-reliance, but by bowing before Him. Should it be according to your mind? God giveth not account of any of His matters. Unless you are self-conceited enough to put your folly in comparison with the wisdom of God, you know it should not be according to your mind.

You desire mentorship. That is a humble desire, yet be careful that in seeking a human guide, you do not darken counsel by words without knowledge. Job’s friends came with their own wisdom, and they vexed his soul. The best of men would have you hold your peace, and it would be their wisdom. True mentorship will never point you to itself, but to the Lord. Job, in his agony, found that his own statements had been a darkening of wisdom. We define this and define that, and think we unravel mysteries, yet before God we must often retract our pleadings. We are wrong, God must be right. Look for a mentor who has learned this in the school of affliction.

I would not have you speak unbecomingly if the answer tarries. Job sinned not with his lips, though his trial was heavy indeed. In all his losses and his sore boils, he charged not God foolishly. If there is delay, if a door shuts, see what Job did. He arose, and rent his mantle, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped. In all this, he sinned not. It is not in my mind to tell you to be silent and never open your mouth, for speech is the glory of man, but let your speech be supplication. The Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Oh, that is a wonder! While the boils were yet upon him, and his substance was gone, he prayed for those who had spoken harshly to him. And when he so prayed, his own sorrows had an end.

Therefore, go to your exam with diligence, but lean not to your own understanding. Pray for this good job with mentorship, but with hearty submission. Whether God grants it swiftly or delays, whether the glory of your estate is fresh or seems to decay, know that He can yet renew your bow in your hand. He got His end in Job’s sorrows, and He will get His end in yours. The night shall not hang its darkness for ever over your soul. I am assured that the Lord is just. Trust in Him, though He slay you, and you will find that He gives what is good even when the answer is not according to your mind. Cry to Him out of your feebleness, weep before Him for the need of your soul even more than for this temporal opening, and He will not despise your tears.

Heavenly Father, we lift up Your servant who seeks wisdom and direction. Grant them clarity of mind as they prepare for and take their exam, and guide them to a good job with godly mentorship (Proverbs 2:6). Open doors of opportunity and surround them with people who will support and guide their growth. May they trust in You with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding, knowing that You will make their paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). In Jesus' name, Amen.
