If you would be free of obesity, seek temperance, seek moderation in what you eat. But if you think being thin will win you the man you desire, you have missed the mark entirely.

And this brings us to the heart of your request: that you might find a boyfriend, rich, handsome, a European millionaire. You must hear the truth. To seek a husband is not sin. Marriage is honorable and the bed undefiled. But to dream of a man for his wealth, for the shape of his face, for the passport he carries, to picture a life of ease funded by another's fortune, this is not the mind of a Christian. It is the dream of one still asleep in the vanities of this passing world. The present life is a sleep, and the things in it are like dreams. Many who are rich in a dream awake to find they have nothing. You think a wealthy lover will solve your troubles, but wealth is more despicable than dung compared to the true riches of eternal life. It stays behind when you die, and while it remains, it often wounds the soul with countless dangers. If you would marry, desire a husband who fears the Lord, a man of virtue, not a man of money. Seek to be the kind of woman the Church calls a widow to be, diligent in every good work, given to hospitality, constant in prayer, even while you are yet unmarried. The virgin, the widow, and the wife alike are called to attend upon the Lord without distraction. If you abstain from nothing and only add a husband to your list of worldly attainments, what profit is there? You will have gained nothing, and perhaps condemned the very state of marriage by treating it as a transaction.

You ask for spiritual and financial liberation. Here is true liberation: cease to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. Cease to dream of the European millionaire and the flat belly as your salvation. Turn your care to virtue. You have at least one talent, do not say you have none. Blessing was promised in the city and in the field, overtaking those who walked in His ways. This is not a guarantee of a painless life, but it reveals that our posture toward God is deeply connected to our well-being.

Your desire for freedom from spiritual attack and sorcery points to a real battle. The enemy does prowl, seeking whom he may devour. He attacks when we want to strengthen our defenses, just as when Nehemiah was rebuilding the walls and the enemy tried every tactic to stop him. But Nehemiah refused to flee into the temple in panic. He stood, he prayed, and he continued the work. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal; they are mighty through God to pull down strongholds. You do not need to fight sorcery with counter-rituals or live in dread of every scissors sound or forced thought. That only feeds torment.
