Let our life and our words reflect Your righteousness, and open doors of influence for us so we may be a blessing to others

Job 29:8:
the young men saw me and stepped aside and the old men rose to their feet;

A Prayer based on Job 29:8:

"Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your grace and favor upon our life. LORD God, as You granted Job honor in his community, we ask that You bless us with wisdom, integrity, and a spirit of excellence. Grant us the grace to command respect without seeking our own glory, and the humility to honor the elderly and lift up those around us. Let our life and our words reflect Your righteousness, and open doors of influence for us so we may be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

We join with you in seeking the Lord’s favor and wisdom, that our lives may indeed reflect His righteousness and bring honor to His name. Your prayer, rooted in the example of Job, is a powerful reminder of how God can use a life surrendered to Him to impact others. Job was a man of integrity, and his reputation was built not on his own strength, but on the fear of the Lord and a heart that sought to honor Him in all things.

The Scripture you referenced, Job 29:8, speaks of the respect Job commanded, not because he demanded it, but because his life was marked by godly wisdom and righteousness. This is a beautiful aspiration for all believers: that our conduct would be so aligned with God’s Word that others take notice, not of us, but of the Christ who lives within us. As it says in Matthew 5:16, "Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

We also recognize the importance of humility in this pursuit. Job’s honor was not self-sought; it was a byproduct of his reverence for God. Proverbs 22:4 reminds us, "The result of humility and the fear of Yahweh is wealth, honor, and life." True influence is not about position or power, but about a heart that seeks to serve and reflect the character of Christ. When we walk in humility, God exalts us in due time (1 Peter 5:6).

Let us also remember that our words carry weight. James 3:13 warns, "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom." Our speech should be seasoned with grace, edifying others and pointing them to the truth of the Gospel. When our words align with God’s truth, they become a powerful tool for blessing and influence.

We pray with you now, lifting this desire before the Lord:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that long to reflect Your righteousness in all we do. Lord, grant us the wisdom of Job, a wisdom that flows from a deep reverence for You. May our lives be marked by integrity, humility, and a spirit of excellence, so that others may see Your light shining through us. Open doors of influence, not for our glory, but for the advancement of Your Kingdom. Let our words be filled with grace and truth, and may our actions bring honor to Your name. Teach us to walk in humility, lifting others up as we seek to serve You. May our lives be a living testimony of Your goodness, drawing others to the hope found in Christ alone. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this pursuit, trusting that as you delight yourself in Him, He will shape your life into one that commands respect, not for your sake, but for His. May God bless you with opportunities to be a vessel of His love and truth in the world.

We love that you’re asking for this kind of influence, not the showy, self-promoting kind, but the steady respect that comes from genuine integrity and a humble spirit. That desire itself is a good work of God in you.

When we’ve seen people actually carry that kind of weight with others, it rarely comes from chasing it directly. More often it grows quietly through small, consistent choices: speaking honestly when it costs you something, showing genuine honor to someone who can’t advance your status, and treating people with a dignity they didn’t earn. One practical way to nurture this is to ask a trusted, mature friend a specific question: “What’s one area where I could be more honoring or less self-focused?” It’s humbling, but that kind of honest feedback often unlocks growth faster than our own best intentions.

You asked for open doors to be a blessing, and that’s a prayer we’ve found God often answers right in the everyday moments we might overlook. Who around you could use a word of genuine encouragement today? Whose experience or wisdom are you uniquely positioned to lift up? Those are the seeds of influence that bear lasting fruit.

We’re praying with you now:

Father, thank You for this desire to reflect Your righteousness and to be a true blessing. Guard us from seeking our own glory. Give us the quiet strength of genuine humility, the kind that honors others freely and listens well. Open the doors You want us to walk through, and give us the courage to step through them with integrity and grace. Use our words and our presence to lift up those around us, and may any influence we gain be used for Your purposes alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your prayer, that your life and words may reflect His righteousness and that doors of influence open to you, is a right and holy desire. Yet let me press this upon your hearts: that such reflecting and such blessing spring not from a resolution of the will nor from the mere asking, but from standing in the light of the Sun of Righteousness Himself. You cannot show forth a righteousness you do not possess. The more we scrub and cleanse ourselves, the blacker we become; it is only as we are washed in the covenant promise, “From all your filthiness will I cleanse you”, that any gleam of His purity shines from us. First you must be blessed ere you can be a blessing. I will bless thee, then thou shalt be a blessing; the order is fixed in the eternal Covenant.

You have looked to the honor God gave Job, a thing good in its place. But recollect that humility is a plant that withers quickly in the sun of success. When the young men saw him and the aged rose, Job was a man of integrity; yet when his trials came, he learned how little his own righteousness availed. Beware, then, of seeking influence or respect for its own sake, even under the guise of blessing others. The sweet perfume of a gracious life will spread of itself if Christ is within; but the craving for doors to open may hide an idol, and our Father is jealous. Serve the Lord with all humility of mind, humility before the work, humility in it, humility when it is done. Let that be your spirit, and He will lift you up in due time, and make you a blessing without your seeking it, perhaps when you are unconscious of it.

The Word of Life, Jesus Christ, must be your all. He met the demands of justice, worked a perfect robe of righteousness for the naked, and now sits as the Sun of Righteousness With healing in His wings. Go often to those beams; let them melt your deadness, dispel your darkness, and cause you to grow in grace. And as you abide there, the influence that comes from you will not be the gilding of nature but the solid gold of grace. Men will take knowledge that you have been with Jesus, and old and young will rise, not to you, but to the Christ whose image you bear. This is the blessing that makes poor, sorrowing, despised ones a very benediction wherever they walk. May the triune blessing, grace, mercy, and peace, be yours through Jesus Christ our Lord.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask God to make you like Job, that the young men step aside and the old rise at your approach. But consider Job's own end: he was blessed with double after his trial, yet those earthly honors were but a shadow. The true blessing given to Abraham was not that he would be esteemed among his neighbors, but that in his Seed all nations would be blessed. And how did that Seed appear? Not with men rising at His coming, but with no form or comeliness that we should desire Him. He was despised and rejected. If you would follow Him, why do you seek what He refused?

You pray for open doors of influence, but I fear this is the old error of the Jews, who thought the blessing was in the fruit of the body, the going out and the coming in. God has now blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. You are made a son, a fellow-heir with Christ, yet you hunger after the respect of men. Do you not see that what you ask is carnal, and belongs to that former covenant now grown old?

Let not your life and words reflect your own righteousness, but declare God's righteousness. That is, not to appear excellent before others, but to know that He justifies the ungodly. The one brings you into the snare of pride, the other keeps you humble as Daniel was humble, who said, "This secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that is in me." If you desire influence, let it be the influence of charity: scatter abroad, give to the poor, and your righteousness, the righteousness of Christ working in you, will abide forever. This is the fulness of the blessing of the gospel, not that men rise before you, but that you stoop to wash their feet. Seek first this true honor, which comes from God alone, and leave it to Him whether He adds any other thing, for He knows that often poverty and contempt are the furnace in which a soul is refined.
