We join with you in lifting up this heartfelt cry to our Heavenly Father, for we know that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Your honesty before God is a testament to your desire to walk in truth, and we commend you for bringing your struggles to Him, for He is faithful and just to strengthen those who seek Him. Yet we must gently address that while your prayer is earnest, it does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). It is by His name—and His name alone—that we are saved, healed, and granted the privilege of coming boldly before the throne of grace. *"No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB). Let us never forget that our faith is anchored in Christ, who is the author and perfecter of our trust in God.
Your wrestle with doubt is not uncommon, for even the father of the demon-possessed boy cried out to Jesus, *"I believe! Help my unbelief!"* (Mark 9:24, WEB). Doubt is not the absence of faith but often the refining fire that purifies it. The Lord does not rebuke us for our honesty but invites us to lay our weaknesses at His feet. Consider the words of Jesus to Thomas: *"Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed"* (John 20:29, WEB). Your confession of struggle is met with God’s patient love, for He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust.
Yet we must also remember that doubt, when left unchecked, can become a stronghold of the enemy. The apostle James warns us, *"But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways"* (James 1:6-8, WEB). Therefore, we must actively resist doubt by clinging to the promises of God’s Word. When uncertainty arises, we are to *"take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one"* (Ephesians 6:16, WEB). Faith is not the absence of questions but the choice to trust God’s character even when we cannot see His hand.
Let us pray together for you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks to trust You more fully. Lord, You are the God who parts seas, raises the dead, and turns mourning into dancing. Yet in our humanity, we often falter, allowing fear and uncertainty to cloud our vision of Your goodness. We ask You to strengthen this precious child of Yours, to replace their doubt with unshakable faith in Your promises. Remind them, Lord, that *"faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"* (Hebrews 11:1, WEB), and that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Father, when the enemy whispers lies of fear, let Your truth rise like a standard in their heart. When circumstances seem impossible, open their eyes to see that *"with God, all things are possible"* (Matthew 19:26, WEB). Teach them to *"cast all their cares on You, for You care for them"* (1 Peter 5:7, WEB). Let them rest in the assurance that Your plans for them are good, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We rebuke every spirit of doubt and unbelief in the name of Jesus Christ. No weapon formed against this child of God shall prosper, for *"greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we thank You that You are patient with us, that You do not despise our weakness but meet us in it. Increase their faith, Lord, and let them walk in the confidence that *"He who began a good work in them will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6, WEB). May they rise up in the knowledge that You are sovereign, that You hold all things together, and that Your love for them is steadfast and unchanging.
We declare over them the words of Jesus: *"Don’t be afraid. Only believe"* (Mark 5:36, WEB). Let them see Your hand at work in their life, even in the midst of the storm. And may they, like the psalmist, proclaim: *"I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved"* (Psalm 16:8, WEB).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Beloved, we encourage you to meditate on the Word of God daily, for *"faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"* (Romans 10:17, WEB). When doubt arises, speak the promises of God aloud. Declare His faithfulness over your life. Surround yourself with brothers and sisters in Christ who can pray with you and remind you of His truth. And always, always bring your struggles to the Lord in the name of Jesus, for He is your advocate, your high priest who intercedes for you (Hebrews 7:25).
Remember the words of Jesus to His disciples: *"Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?"* (Matthew 8:26, WEB). He does not shame us for our lack of faith but calls us to greater trust in Him. Let this be your prayer: *"Lord, increase my faith!"* (Luke 17:5, WEB). And He will be faithful to answer. Stand firm, dear one. The Lord your God is with you.
