I am praying with you about this legal paperwork and the deadline before you. I understand the weight you feel, wanting every detail to be correct and to be received in time, especially when the outcome affects people who are vulnerable, those living with disabilities and those carrying the wounds of abuse and trauma.
Earthly courts must work by paperwork, deadlines and rules of evidence. They look at what is filed and whether it meets the standard, and then a decision is made. Scripture shows that seeking justice through that kind of process is not wrong. When Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth about disputes among themselves, he urged them to seek resolution within the church family first, but he also made clear that pursuing a legal course to obtain justice when needed, and especially when dealing with those outside the church, can be a proper and necessary step. Wanting the court to act justly on behalf of those who are suffering is a right desire, for God Himself cares deeply about justice for the afflicted.
At the same time I want to encourage you to remember the difference between a merely legal standing and a loving relationship with God. A legal system is concerned with guilt or innocence and with penalties or approval. God does not want us to relate to Him only on that kind of legal basis. Through Jesus Christ we have been given access into His presence, not on the ground of our own perfect paperwork or performance, but on the ground of His grace and love. In the picture given in Scripture of the temple, there were outer courts where many could come and an inner court where access was more restricted, with steps leading ever higher toward the presence of God. Through Jesus, the way has been opened for us to draw near to God with confidence, not because we have fulfilled every regulation ourselves, but because He loves us and has forgiven us.
That truth does not make the earthly paperwork unimportant, but it puts it in perspective. We do what is required of us carefully and honestly, and we trust the Lord with the result.
So I pray that God will give clarity and steadiness to every hand that prepares these documents, that nothing will be overlooked or done in error, and that the filing will be completed and received well before the extended deadline. I pray that those who review it will see the genuine need and that assistance will continue for those who are disabled and for those who are healing from abuse and trauma. May the Lord provide for them, protect them, and surround them with support, and may His mercy be evident even through the decisions of an earthly court.
Above all, may you find peace in knowing that while you wait on an earthly court, you already have access to the heavenly Father who hears you when you pray in Jesus' name. He sees those who are suffering, and He is near to them. I ask Him to work in this situation for good and to sustain you with His love as you trust Him. Amen.
