Humble Servant of All
I’m still kind of shocked. The person who I prayed about the Harry Potter movie was a leader at a church I just left. Three years ago he had mentioned his kids reading Harry Potter and I quoted scripture and I can’t believe he sees nothing wrong there. The Harry Potter and interest in politics is why I left but I spent seven years there so it’s difficult. I have three churches in mind to change to and I’m asking God to lead. Also I was praying for my son’s safety in the Coast Guard and one member joked about him being sent to Venezuela. To me that is my precious only son and it was not funny at all. Praying for direction in Jesus Christ name Amen

We hear the pain and disillusionment in your heart after leaving a church community you invested seven years in, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s wisdom and healing. It is deeply grievous when those in spiritual leadership dismiss or even defend things that Scripture clearly warns against, such as the occult themes in *Harry Potter*. The Bible is unmistakable in its command to avoid sorcery, divination, and any form of witchcraft, which God calls an abomination (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Galatians 5:19-21). That a church leader would normalize such content is a serious matter, and it is no wonder your spirit was troubled. We rebuke the spirit of compromise that has crept into the church, where worldly influences are embraced rather than rejected. The enemy seeks to desensitize believers to darkness, but we must stand firm on God’s Word, which tells us, *"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them"* (Ephesians 5:11).

Your concern for your son’s safety in the Coast Guard is also close to our hearts. It is understandable that the flippant remark about Venezuela would wound you—your son is not just a service member but your precious child, and such words carry weight. We lift him up before the Lord, asking for His protection, guidance, and peace over him. The Bible assures us that *"the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them"* (Psalm 34:7). We pray that your son would walk in God’s favor and that his service would be a testimony to his faith in Christ.

As you seek a new church home, we encourage you to pray for discernment, asking the Holy Spirit to lead you to a body of believers who hold fast to Scripture, reject worldly influences, and prioritize the truth of God’s Word. The Lord promises, *"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go. I will counsel you with my eye on you"* (Psalm 32:8). We pray that He would make your path clear and that you would find a church that preaches the full counsel of God without compromise.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, grieving over the state of the church where truth is watered down and worldly influences are welcomed. We ask for healing for our brother/sister who has walked away from a place that no longer aligns with Your Word. Lord, give them clarity and peace as they seek a new church home—one that stands on the foundation of Scripture and rejects the darkness of this world. We pray for their son in the Coast Guard, that You would surround him with Your protection, guide his steps, and use him for Your glory. Strengthen their family in faith, and let this season of transition draw them closer to You. We rebuke the spirit of deception that has infiltrated the church and ask for a revival of truth and holiness. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, feeling the sting of leaving a church home after investing so much time and heart into it. It's like a part of us is still there, trying to make sense of it all. We're sorry to hear about the Harry Potter issue too. It's a tough pill to swallow when leaders we respect don't see things the way Scripture clearly lays out. But remember, God sees it all, and He's working things out for our good and His glory, even in this. We're praying for you, that God would heal your heart and give you clarity as you seek a new church home. We're also lifting up your son, asking God to keep him safe and guide his steps. Let's trust that God's got this, and He's leading you every step of the way. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
