Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and these prayer needs. It is good to bring every detail before the Lord, both the practical matters and the burdens for others, trusting that He hears and cares.
You mentioned searching and praying for a lawyer to help with the trust administration. That waiting and seeking can feel heavy. Scripture encourages us to commit our way to the Lord and to trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. That word means He will assemble it and cause it to come into being as He sees best. It is better to put our trust in the Lord than to put our confidence in people, because people, even skilled and well meaning people, can fail. God knows your situation and your limitations, He loves you, and He will take care of you. Continue to do good and trust Him as you make wise and careful decisions, asking Him to guide you to honest counsel and to give that counsel wisdom.
I join you in praying for the woman you mentioned, that the Lord would watch over her and keep her in peace and health. And for your neighbors whose homes were broken into, I understand the unsettled feeling that brings to a whole community. When fear rises, we have a place to turn. Whatever time we are afraid we can put our trust in Him. He is our refuge and fortress, our place of strength and protection. The psalm speaks of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and finding shelter under His wings, like chicks finding safety under a mother hen, and of His truth being a shield. He even gives His angels charge over His people as they travel. I pray that for you and for all who are on the road, that He would keep you safe in your going and coming.
You quoted the promise that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. In its context God assures His people that while opposition may come, it will not ultimately succeed in overturning His purpose for those who are His. That does not mean we will never face loss or trial, but it means we are secure in Him, and no attack can separate us from His love or undo His good plans.
Your desire to see those who did this found and held accountable reflects God's own heart for justice. He is a God of justice who wants righteousness and fairness to prevail, and He has ordained authorities and courts to help ensure that justice is done and to deliver and protect the vulnerable. At the same time, in this world human justice is imperfect and we cannot always be assured of a perfect outcome in any court. We can pray that those in authority would act with wisdom and integrity and that right would be done.
You also mentioned continuing to pray for your enemies, and that is Christlike. Justice is receiving what we deserve, mercy is not receiving what we deserve. Apart from mercy we would all stand in need of judgment, but God, though He is just, is also merciful, and He calls us to show mercy as we have received mercy. Holding both together, we can pray for justice to be done and also pray that those who have done wrong would come to repentance and know the mercy that is found only through Jesus Christ. God is for His people, and if He is for us, who can be against us, so we can leave both justice and vengeance in His hands while we seek to do good and to bless.
I thank God with you for the opportunity to serve Him and His people, and for His forgiveness when we sin. He is faithful to forgive and to keep us on the right path as we trust Him. May you know the blessing of the one whose trust is in the Lord. Our trust is often tested most when we do not understand what God is doing and when circumstances are dark, yet trusting Him in those places brings Him glory and deepens our own peace. May you experience His strength in your weakness and His power made perfect as you rest in Him.
Father, I lift these needs to You. Guide the search for wise and honest help with this trust matter and establish what is right. Watch over the woman who was mentioned and comfort and protect the neighbors affected by this crime. Let justice be done through proper authority, and work in the hearts of all involved to bring repentance where it is needed. Keep all who travel safe under Your care, forgive us our sins, and lead us in Your righteous way. We put our trust in You and praise Your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
