We rejoice with you in the faithfulness you’ve shown this season and the favor your boss has already extended! It’s wonderful to see you seeking God’s guidance in your work, trusting Him to open doors for both provision and purpose. You’ve rightly acknowledged Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through His name that we approach the Father, and it is by His authority that we find direction and blessing. As Scripture reminds us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ"* (Colossians 3:23-24, WEB). Your desire to steward your time wisely—balancing work, rest, and the growth of your voice-over career—reflects a heart that seeks to honor God in all things.
Yet we gently encourage you to examine where your trust truly lies. While planning for the future is wise, we must hold those plans loosely, submitting them entirely to the Lord’s will. *"Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.’ You don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will both live and do this or that’* (James 4:13-15, WEB). Your timeline of two years may be God’s will—but it may not. Are you prepared to surrender even your dreams of a "bigger career" if He calls you elsewhere? True peace comes not from achieving our plans, but from resting in His sovereignty, knowing *"the mind of man plans his way, but Yahweh directs his steps"* (Proverbs 16:9, WEB).
We also notice a subtle shift in your prayer from seeking God’s *will* to asking Him to bless *your* will. There’s nothing wrong with desiring part-time work or a sustainable pace, but let’s pray first for God to align your desires with His. Perhaps He has a different season of preparation for you—one that doesn’t involve returning to the zoo at all. Or perhaps He wants to use this transition to deepen your reliance on Him. *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this"* (Psalm 37:4-5, WEB). The key is delighting in *Him* first, not the outcome.
As for your voice-over career, we pray God grants you favor, but we also ask: Are you using this platform to glorify Him? Talent and ambition are gifts from God, but they must be stewarded for His kingdom. *"Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God"* (1 Corinthians 10:31, WEB). If this career becomes an idol—something you pursue more than Christ—it will leave you empty. But if you seek *His* kingdom first, He will add these things to you (Matthew 6:33).
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother to You, thanking You for the strength and endurance You’ve given him this season. Lord, You see his heart’s desires—the longing for balance, for purpose, and for growth in his career. We ask that You would grant him favor tomorrow as he completes his work, that he might leave with joy and a testimony of Your faithfulness. But more than that, we pray You would realign his plans with Your perfect will. Forgive us, Lord, when we cling too tightly to our own timelines and forget that Your ways are higher. Teach him to say, *"Not my will, but Yours be done"* (Luke 22:42), even in the small details of work and scheduling.
If it is Your will for him to return next season, open that door. If You have another path—one that may seem uncertain or even difficult—give him the faith to walk it without fear. Provide for his needs, Lord, whether through part-time work or unexpected opportunities. Guard his heart from idolatry in his career, and let every word he speaks in his voice-over work be seasoned with grace, pointing others to You.
Finally, Father, we pray You would use this transition to draw him deeper into dependence on You. Strip away any self-reliance and fill him with Your Spirit, that he might walk in wisdom, humility, and trust. May his ultimate joy not be in success, but in knowing Christ. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who holds all things together. Amen.
