landlord

We come before the Lord with a heavy heart for your landlord, lifting him up in prayer and asking for the Holy Spirit to move mightily in his life. Father, we know that no one can come to You unless the Spirit draws them, and so we pray for a divine encounter that will break through any hardness of heart or resistance to Your call. "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day." (John 6:44 WEB) We ask that You would soften his heart, open his eyes to Your truth, and reveal Your love to him in a way he cannot ignore.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of pride, greed, or worldliness that may be keeping him from surrendering his life and his will to You. We declare that every stronghold in his mind and heart that exalts itself against the knowledge of God must come down in the name of Jesus. "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 WEB) We pray that he would recognize his need for a Savior and turn to You with all his heart.

We also lift up the relationship between you and your landlord, asking that it would be marked by integrity, kindness, and mutual respect. May your interactions with him be a testimony to the love of Christ, and may he see the light of Jesus shining through you. "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 WEB) If there have been any conflicts or misunderstandings, we pray for reconciliation and healing in that relationship.

Heavenly Father, we know that true surrender to You is not just a one-time decision but a daily choice to lay down our own will and follow Yours. We pray that this landlord would not only make a decision to follow Christ but would also grow in his faith, being discipled and encouraged by fellow believers. Surround him with godly influences who can speak truth into his life and help him walk in obedience to Your Word. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20 WEB)

Lord, we also ask that You would bless him materially and spiritually. If he is struggling with financial burdens, stress, or any other challenges, we pray that You would provide for his needs and give him peace that surpasses all understanding. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19 WEB) May he come to know the joy and freedom that comes from living a life fully surrendered to You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name through which we have access to the Father. "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB) We declare that Your will be done in this landlord’s life, and we trust that You are working even now to draw him to Yourself. May he come to know You as his Lord and Savior, and may his life be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We stand in agreement with Your Word, believing that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him. "Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6 WEB) Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your unfailing love. We trust in You alone. Amen.

We’re joining you in this, and it’s clear how much you long to see your landlord truly know the Lord. That kind of steady, hopeful praying is powerful, even when the answer doesn’t come as quickly as we’d like. We’ve learned that a person’s surrender to God is often less a single dramatic moment and more a series of quiet turnings, and sometimes our most important part is simply to keep asking, keep trusting, and keep being a calm, genuine presence in their life.

One practical thing we’d encourage: as you continue praying, look for ordinary, low-pressure moments to simply be human with him. Maybe ask how his week is going, listen for whatever weighs on him, and let him see that you’re a safe, caring person. Over time, those small connections can open a door for a question like, “Has faith ever been a part of your story?” without it feeling forced. You don’t need to have all the answers; just being curious and kind can give the Holy Spirit room to work in ways you might never see.

Also, consider setting aside a particular time each day or week to lift him up specifically, maybe during your commute or while doing dishes. It helps us keep our hearts soft toward someone, even if they seem far from God right now.

Lord, we ask for this landlord’s heart. In your patience, draw him gently toward your voice. Remove whatever keeps him from fully surrendering his will to you. Give our friend here wisdom and courage to live out your love before him, and grant the right words when the time is right. We trust your timing and your power to reach him completely. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You have brought this man before the Lord in prayer, and you have done well. It is no small thing to carry another soul upon your heart and place it into the hands of Him who alone can turn the will and open the ear. You are much like a man standing on the shore, watching a ship in deep water, a ship that will not come to harbor. You cannot swim out to her, you cannot command the wind, but you can signal the King’s lifeboat, and prayer is that signal. Never think your cry is wasted because you do not yet see the sails shift. The very fact that you have felt this burden, that you have spoken the name of this landlord into the ear of Christ, is itself a token that the great Shepherd is already on the move. I have often found that when the Lord intends to save a man, He first sets someone praying for him; your prayer is the first rustle of the wind that will fill his soul’s sails and bring him home.

Do not be dismayed if as yet he seems far from surrender. You may look at him and see a hard will, a life walled about with self, and you may wonder if any voice can ever pierce those walls. But remember this: God’s voice is not like ours. When He spoke in the beginning, light blazed out of darkness, order rose out of chaos, and the seas fled to their appointed place. That same voice still speaks. It can call a proud man to his knees as easily as it called Lazarus out of the tomb. The landlord’s will may be iron, but there is a flame in the voice of the Almighty that can melt it in a moment. I have known men who seemed to wear their rebellion like a crown, yet one word from the Father, one glimpse of the love of Christ, and they have cast their crown in the dust and cried out, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” Do not measure the man’s distance from God by what your eyes can see. Measure the power of your God by what He has promised.

And think on this: the surrender you are asking for is not a bitter thing. The world imagines that to submit to God is to lose something precious, but it is the soul’s truest liberty. You are not praying that this landlord be made a slave, but that he be made a son. The will that bows to the Father is the will that is finally at rest. I have sometimes pictured it like a child who has been struggling in the dark, frightened and headstrong, until at last the father’s hand is placed upon him and he hears, “It is I; be still.” That child does not lose anything by ceasing his fight; he gains safety, he gains peace, he gains the very presence of his father. So it shall be with this man. When he surrenders his will, he will find it returned to him cleansed, strengthened, filled with holy purpose. You are not asking for his diminishment, but for his true enlargement.

In the meantime, steady your heart with this assurance: the Father hears you when you pray in Jesus’ name. The Son has opened the way, and the Spirit helps our weakness. Even now, behind the scenes, God may be dealing with this man in ways you cannot trace. Perhaps some providence is already softening the ground, some midnight thought, some unexpected mercy, some twinge of conscience that he cannot explain. A love letter may arrive in a black-edged envelope, and the man who would not open the hand of a friend will tear it open when it comes from the King. Keep entrusting him to the One who is able to subdue all things unto Himself. Keep pleading the truth of God’s salvation, for that salvation is no shadow, it is the substance of Christ’s own finished work. There is a reality in it that can lay hold of the most resisting heart.

Let us go together now and spread this burden before the mercy seat.

Our Father, we bring before Thee this one whom Thou knowest by name, though he knows Thee not as he ought. We ask that Thy voice would speak to him until he can no longer turn away. Break in upon his will, not with terror alone, but with the sweet compulsion of Thy love. Show him the loveliness of Jesus, the rest that comes in yielding all to Thee. Take the life that has been spent on empty pursuits and make it Thine. Take the will that has been set against holy things and bend it, gently and yet mightily, until every thought is brought captive to the obedience of Christ. And grant to Thy child who prays the peace that passes understanding, a quiet confidence that Thou art working all things after the counsel of Thy will. We ask it in the worthy name of Jesus. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
