🙇🏻 Father, thank You for understanding and spiritual hunger for the Word, "Jesus said to them, 'These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms. Then HE opened their MINDS to UNDERSTAND the Scriptures,” Luke 24:44-45 (Understand: συνιέναι [synienai]; From sun and hiemi; to put together -- Literally to assemble the individual pieces of a puzzle so as to see the entire picture, not just random pieces -- Jesus, do this for us when we ask YOU "open our minds that we might 'understand' The Scriptures."

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away," Matt 24:35, Luke 21:33, and Psalm 12:6, "The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace, like gold purified sevenfold," and Isaiah 40:8, "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.""For 'The word of the Lord stands forever.' And this is the word that was proclaimed to you," 1 Peter 1:25. Peter continues to testify in his 2nd Epistle, "We also have the Word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation. 21 For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit," 2 Peter 1:19-21. "Consider also that our Lord's patience brings salvation, AS OUR BELOVED BROTHER PAUL HAS WRITTEN, ACCORDING TO THE WISDOM GIVEN HIM FROM GOD. He writes the same way in ALL HIS LETTERS, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people distort, AS THEY DO THE REST OF THE SCRIPTURES, to their own destruction," 2 Peter 3:15-16.

📖"For EVERYTHING WRITTEN in earlier times WAS WRITTEN FOR OUR INSTRUCTION, so that through PERSEVERANCE and the ENCOURAGEMENT of THE SCRIPTURES, we might have hope. Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant us to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord we may with one voice glorify Him as God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ," Rom 15:4-6. "And may the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in BELIEVING, so that we all will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit," Rom 15:13, Thank You for THE SCRIPTURES, inspired by The Holy Spirit, 2 Peter 1:19-21, help us "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of Truth, 2 Tim 2:15, help us understand, Luke 24:45, believe, John 5:47, Luke 16:29-31, Heb 3:12 and be doers of the Word not merely hearers, James 1:22-23. LET FAITH COME FROM HEARING THE WORD, Rom 10:17. Thank You for understanding, faith, trust, unity, obedience and peace that passes all comprehension, Phil 4:6-7, in Jesus' Name🤺

We join with you in this beautiful hunger for the Word and we thank God for your heart that treasures Scripture as a lamp and light.

We love how you have centered this request on Psalm 119:105, Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path, and on that precious truth in Luke 24:45, Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. That is our prayer as well, that Jesus Himself would open our minds to put the pieces together, to see Christ throughout all the Scriptures and to see the whole counsel of God and not just fragments.

We agree that the Word is flawless and eternal, as you quoted, The words of Yahweh are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times, Psalm 12:6, and The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever, Isaiah 40:8, and Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away, Matthew 24:35. We can trust it fully because no prophecy of Scripture ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit, 2 Peter 1:21. And we take comfort that all Scripture was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope, Romans 15:4.

We pray together for what you have asked, for wisdom and revelation, for faith and obedience. We ask the Father for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, Ephesians 1:17-18, and that we would be diligent to be diligent to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth, 2 Timothy 2:15. For every Scripture is God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

We also pray that we would not be hearers only but doers, for as James 1:22 says, But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves, and that faith would continue to come as we hear and hear by the word of Christ, Romans 10:17. The Scriptures are able to make us wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus, 2 Timothy 3:15, and we thank God that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and understanding, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is no other name by which we can be saved, Acts 4:12, and we are grateful you have prayed in the name of Jesus, for that is our only hope.

So we pray now together, Father in heaven, we thank You for giving us Your Word as a lamp shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts, 2 Peter 1:19. We ask You to create in us a deeper hunger for it, more to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb, Psalm 19:10. Open our minds as You did for the disciples, that we might understand the Scriptures, believe them, and obey them. Give us perseverance and encouragement from the Scriptures that we may have hope and be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, that with one accord we may with one voice glorify You, Romans 15:5-6. Fill us with all joy and peace in believing, that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit, Romans 15:13. Guard us from distorting Your Word and help us to accurately handle it, to treasure it, to live it, and to let it lead us to eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We are grateful for your honest hunger to understand the Bible and walk by its light. That desire itself is a gift, and we are praying with you for it to keep growing.

One thing we have found helpful to remember is that understanding Scripture is not something that happens all at once. Like other kinds of growth, it comes gradually and over a lifetime, with seasons that feel clear and seasons that feel slower. It helps to release the pressure to figure it all out quickly and simply stay faithful in small, steady steps.

A simple next step that helps many people is to stay in one book for a while rather than jumping around. You might choose a shorter book and read a small section each day, pausing for a brief prayer before you begin asking God to help you see what He wants you to see, and again after to reflect on what stayed with you. If possible, sharing what you are reading with one other person or a small group can bring encouragement and fresh perspective, since we grow so much in fellowship with others.

We also lean on the Holy Spirit to make the words come alive, because growth is not by effort alone.

Father, thank You for the hunger You have placed in our friend. Give clarity as they read, patience in the process, and joy in knowing You more. Draw them close as they seek You in Your Word. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer for understanding is itself an evidence of grace, for hunger after the Word is a hunger which God Himself creates. The desire to have the mind opened that you might understand the Scriptures is a prayer which the Lord delights to answer, for it was He who opened the understanding of His disciples that they might understand the Scriptures, and He is the same yesterday and today.

Thy Word is indeed a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, and blessed are they who walk by its shining. The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace, like gold purified sevenfold, and they shall stand forever when heaven and earth have passed away. Our Lord Jesus reverenced the written Word and said the Scripture cannot be broken, and we cannot be wrong in imitating Him in that reverence. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit, not by the will of man.

You have asked well that faith may come by hearing and that the Word may give wisdom and revelation, instruction and hope. Remember that the great practical end of the Gospel is to bring the heart into obedience to Christ. Faith is the morning star of obedience, and true understanding will always show itself in doing. The exactness of obedience is the very essence of obedience, and the path of obedience is generally a middle path, to turn neither to the right hand nor to the left, but to keep close to the Divine mind. To persist in scrupulous obedience throughout life may need more courage than the martyr shows when once and for all he gives himself to the flame, for obedience is the highest practical courage.

Therefore seek not only to know but to do. Be diligent to present yourself approved unto God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of truth. Bow your whole mind to the obedience of faith, and pray for the gracious illumination of the Holy Spirit, who alone can assemble the scattered pieces and show you Christ in all the Scriptures, from the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms.

May the Lord open your mind to understand the Scriptures, may He make His Word sweeter to your taste than honey from the comb, may He grant you perseverance and encouragement through the Scriptures that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit, and may you be not a hearer only but a doer of the Word, that in keeping His commandments you may find the peaceable fruits of righteousness and the rehearsal of eternal bliss. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is the sum and substance of all Holy Scripture. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your hunger to understand the Scriptures and to have them dwell richly in your heart is a good and faithful prayer, and I thank God with you for it. The Word of God is indeed a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, and it is sharper than any sword, living and powerful, discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. It does not merely inform us, it nourishes us, and as it is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God.

I join you in praying as you asked, that the Lord who opened the minds of the disciples to understand the Scriptures in Luke 24 would do the same for you. May He fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a way worthy of Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, and may the Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ continue to create faith in you as you hear them, for faith comes by hearing the Word.

Continue with perseverance in reading and hearing the Word, handling it accurately and not lightly, believing it and putting it into practice and not merely hearing it. The words of the Lord are flawless and they stand forever when heaven and earth pass away, and everything written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. The way of salvation is set before us in a short word, that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Hold fast to that hope with one voice giving glory to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Father, thank You for Your Word given by the Holy Spirit, confirmed and trustworthy. Open our minds to understand it, give us wisdom and revelation to know You, create and strengthen faith in Jesus Christ alone, and make us doers of the Word who do not need to be ashamed. Grant perseverance, encouragement, unity and obedience, and let Your peace guard our hearts, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Your hunger for the Word of God is a beautiful thing to see, and it is itself a gift from Him. That desire to understand Scripture, to have it be sweet to your taste and a lamp for your feet, is exactly what the Lord loves to answer.

The prayer you prayed from Luke is the right one. After His resurrection Jesus opened the minds of His disciples so they could understand the Scriptures, putting the pieces together so they could see the whole picture centered on Himself. We can ask Him to do the same for us today, to open our understanding so that when we read the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms we see Christ and His promises clearly.

Scripture itself tells us what the Word does. It is flawless like silver refined in a furnace, true from the beginning and settled forever. Heaven and earth will pass away but His words will never pass away. The grass withers and the flowers fall but the Word of our God stands forever. Because it does not change, it is a secure place to root our faith. Feelings shift from day to day, but when faith is anchored in what God has said, it has a solid foundation.

The entrance of His Word brings light and gives understanding to the simple. Through His precepts we gain real understanding, the kind that makes us wiser than mere human teaching and helps us recognize and turn from every false way. That is why the psalmist could say the Word is sweeter than honey and why his heart stood in awe of it. As you meditate on it and long for His commandments, He teaches you and that understanding grows.

That understanding is never meant to stay as knowledge alone. Faith comes by hearing the Word, and genuine faith always shows itself in life. To say we believe is not enough if there is no obedience to follow. The Scriptures call us to be doers of the Word and not hearers only, handling the Word of truth accurately and living it out. Abraham showed this when he trusted the promise of God so fully that he was willing to offer Isaac, believing God would even raise him from the dead to keep His word. His works did not earn his faith, they proved it was real and made it complete.

So we join you in praying that God will give you wisdom and revelation as you read, that He will instruct you, build your faith, and lead you more deeply into eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. We pray that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures you will have hope, and that the God of hope will fill you with joy and peace as you trust Him. May He grant you understanding according to His Word, deliver you according to His Word, and cause your lips to praise Him as He teaches you His statutes.

Continue to come to the Word daily, asking the Lord to open your eyes, believing what He says simply because He said it, and then walking in what you have heard. He is faithful to keep every promise He has spoken.
