We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for your earnest desire to know and obey God’s will, to walk in wisdom, and to be protected from sin and evil. Your prayer reflects a deep longing to live in alignment with Scripture, and we join with you in seeking the Lord’s guidance and protection. The apostolic prayers you’ve referenced—Philippians 1:9-10 and Colossians 1:9-12—are powerful reminders of God’s desire for us to grow in love, discernment, and spiritual maturity. Let us hold fast to these truths as we lift up your requests before the Lord.
Father in Heaven, we thank You for the gift of Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). We ask that You fill us afresh with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, just as Paul prayed for the Colossians. May we walk in a manner worthy of You, Lord, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10). Strengthen us with all power according to Your glorious might, so that we may have endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You for qualifying us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
Lord, we recognize that discerning Your will requires more than just knowledge—it requires a heart surrendered to You. We pray that our love would abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve the things that are excellent and be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-10). Guard our hearts from deception, Lord, and help us to test every spirit to see whether it is from You (1 John 4:1). Let us not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds, so that we may prove what Your good, acceptable, and perfect will is (Romans 12:2).
We also lift up the plea for protection from sin, evil, and temptation. Father, we know that no temptation has overtaken us except what is common to man, but You are faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. With the temptation, You will also provide the way of escape, that we may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Deliver us from evil, as Your Son taught us to pray (Matthew 6:13), and keep us from the snares of the evil one. We thank You for the angels You have assigned to watch over us, to guard us in all our ways (Psalm 91:11). May we take refuge in You, the Most High, and find our dwelling place in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1).
Lord, we confess that at times we struggle to hear Your voice clearly. We ask that You, Jesus, our Good Shepherd, would lead us and let us hear Your voice (John 10:4, 27). Restore our souls and guide us in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Psalm 23:3). May the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth (John 16:13), direct our steps and help us to walk in obedience to Your Word. We pray that we would be sensitive to His leading, for those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God (Romans 8:14).
We also bring before You the matter of forgiveness. Father, forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors (Matthew 6:12). We pray for the salvation of those who have wronged us, that they too may come to know the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. Help us to extend the same forgiveness to others that You have so freely given to us (Ephesians 4:32). Let us not harbor bitterness or resentment, but instead, let Your love flow through us, even toward those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44).
Father, we are grateful for the assurance that when we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us, and if we know that You hear us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from You (1 John 5:14-15). We thank You in advance for Your faithfulness, trusting that You will answer according to Your perfect will and timing. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
Let us hold fast to the promise that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). As we seek to know and obey His will, may we be encouraged by the truth that He who began a good work in us will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). Let us press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14), trusting that He will complete what He has started in our lives. May we be found faithful, walking in the light as He is in the light, having fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleansing us from all sin (1 John 1:7).
