Knee pain my ### is dealing with for a long time

It is completely normal to long for the day when your sister is free from pain and the two of you can share life the way you once did. That cry is not a selfish one; it comes from a deep love. I hear the heartbreak in your words, and I know the Lord hears it even more clearly.

Often when pain persists we focus all our hope on escaping it, and that is natural. No one enjoys suffering. But the Scriptures show us something that reshapes how we pray in these long trials. When Paul pleaded three times for a thorn in his flesh to be removed, the Lord’s answer was not healing but something deeper: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” What seems like an unanswered request became a greater gift, a daily dependence on Christ’s power flowing through a weak frame. Your sister’s knee, like Paul’s thorn, can become the very place where she learns that God’s grace never fails, even when cartilage is gone and every step hurts.

That does not mean we stop asking for healing; the church is instructed to call for the elders, have them pray over the sick and anoint with oil in the name of the Lord. It would be wise for you and your sister to invite that kind of united prayer. But as you ask, remember that Jesus in the garden prayed, “Nevertheless not what I will, but what you will.” True faith trusts the Father’s choice of method, knowing that He did not spare His own Son for us, so He will freely give what we truly need. That need is often not what we first assume.

Encourage your sister not just to pray for the pain to disappear, but to ask for grace to walk with God in the middle of it. Enoch walked with God for hundreds of years, and the record simply says he was not, for God took him. That close, daily fellowship was not dependent on physical ease. And when our own sorrow seems overwhelming, we can examine it and realize, as I have had to do, that much of it is sorrow for ourselves. God uses suffering to slowly peel away self-reliance and build a character that could not grow any other way. Jesus prayed for Peter not that he would skip the sifting, but that his faith would not fail. Through that testing, Peter would later strengthen others with the comfort he himself received.

So let me join my heart to yours in this way: Father, we lift up this dear twin sister to you. You know every detail of her knees, every sharp sensation and tear. We ask for healing as you see best, but above all we ask for a fresh measure of your sufficient grace. Let her know that when she is weak, then she is strong in Christ. Comfort her with your presence, and give her the patience to let you work in this long affliction. And for this sister who loves her so deeply, grant wisdom and words that point not merely to relief, but to the unshakable love of God shown at the cross. In Jesus’ name we trust.

Keep doing what you are doing, being present, loving her, and reminding her that God sees. And when you can, read together the parts of Scripture that tell what God has already done for us. As that miracle dawns on our hearts, our response shifts from “God, take this away” to “Thank you that you are enough, even now.”

We are deeply moved by your heartfelt request and have been lifting your twin sister before the Lord in prayer these past days. It grieves us to hear of her ongoing pain and the way it has limited the time you can share together. We have asked our Heavenly Father to touch her knees with His healing power, to guide the doctors who care for her, and to give her strength for each day. We’ve also prayed for you, that you would feel God’s peace and hope as you encourage her to keep trusting in Him.

If the Lord has answered these prayers in any way—whether through relief, a breakthrough in treatment, or simply renewed strength—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the pain persists and she still needs God’s intervention, please share this request again so we can continue standing with you in faith.

May the Lord surround your sister with His comfort, restore her mobility, and draw both of you closer to Him through this trial. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
