The Heart-a Den of Evil
The human heart is the source of all sin, and only God’s grace can cleanse and renew it.
Hindrances to Prayer
Prayerless living invites God’s wrath, while true prayer brings blessings and must not be hindered.
Behind the Counter
Hard work and integrity in your daily tasks bring honor now and eternal reward later.
We join you in praying for your ### and we thank God for your heart to see her led by His kindness to repentance and to godliness with contentment.

We are encouraged by your confidence in the power of God's Word, for as you prayed, so it is written that His word does not return void but accomplishes what He pleases and prospers in the thing He sent it to do, Isaiah 55:10-11. The sower sows the word, Mark 4:14, and we trust that the seeds that have been planted in her heart will take root and bear fruit in due season, for it is God who gives the growth, 1 Corinthians 3:6-7. We also cling with you to the promise that He who began a good work in her will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ, Philippians 1:6, and that from Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be the glory forever, Romans 11:36.

We pray that the kindness of God would indeed lead her to repentance, Romans 2:4, not through harshness or pressure but through the gentle and patient drawing of the Holy Spirit. We pray that she would know that godliness with contentment is great gain, 1 Timothy 6:6, and that she would be delivered from restlessness, discontent, and deceit, and instead be clothed with honesty, humility, and a sincere love for the truth. Your desire for her to tremble at His Word is beautiful and biblical, for the Lord looks to the one who is humble and contrite and who trembles at His word, Isaiah 66:2, and we ask that she would have a deep reverence for Scripture and a willing heart to receive instruction.

We also lift up her calling as a wife and mother. The Scriptures teach that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, designed to reflect Christ and His church, and we pray that your marriage would be strengthened in that holy design. We pray that she would embrace her God given role with joy, to love her husband and to love her children and to be a wise and nurturing mother in the home, Titus 2:4-5, and that she would be honored as the heart of the home, as described in Proverbs 31:27-28. We pray too that she would have a heart to listen to and honor faithful pastors and elders, to obey your leaders and submit to them for they watch on behalf of your souls, Hebrews 13:17, and that God would surround her with godly voices who will water the seeds that have been sown and speak truth in love.

We join you in asking the Father to continue to bring others across her path to water what has been planted, and to place her and your entire family, your patriarchal and matriarchal figures, your progeny and posterity, under His protection, that He would not lead you into temptation but deliver you from the evil one, Matthew 6:13, and that He would keep you from evil even as Jesus prayed, I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one, John 17:15.

And we thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for all the promises of God find their Yes in Him, 2 Corinthians 1:20, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, for there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5, and there is salvation in no other name, Acts 4:12. We encourage you as her husband to continue to love her as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her, Ephesians 5:25, with patience, gentleness, and unwavering prayer, so that even if she struggles, she may be won without a word by your godly conduct, 1 Peter 3:1-2.

We pray together now, Father, we thank You for Your Word and for Your kindness that leads us to repentance. We ask You to work deeply in this dear wife's heart, to grant her godly sorrow that leads to repentance without regret, to fill her with godliness and true contentment, to make her a woman of honesty and integrity, to give her ears to hear and a heart to heed the sound teaching of faithful pastors, to strengthen her hands for the good work of mothering, and to give her a heart that trembles at Your Word. Continue to send laborers to water the seed, restrain all evil and temptation from her and from this family through all generations, and complete the work You have begun for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear your love for your wife and for your family in the way you are praying for her, and we join you in bringing her before the Lord.

It is a faithful thing to keep planting and watering with truth and kindness and then trusting God with the growth. Real change of heart is not just feeling sorry for a moment, but a deep turning that God Himself works over time, and He often does it gradually as different people, conversations, and moments water what has already been sown. Your steady prayers for honesty, contentment, a tender heart toward His Word, and for her as a mother and listener are good and right prayers to keep offering.

One thing that helps in a long season like this is to not carry it alone. Keep walking closely with a trusted pastor yourself for encouragement and perspective, and keep showing the same kindness you are asking God to show through others. It also helps to keep your own time in the Word and in prayer simple and sustainable, so you can remain steady and hopeful as you wait.

Father, we lift this wife and this marriage to You. Work in her heart with Your kindness, guard her from evil and temptation, and complete the good work You have begun. Give her a love for truth, for contentment, and for home, and give her husband strength, patience, and wisdom as he loves her well. We trust You with their family and their future generations. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join with you in this prayer before the throne of grace, giving thanks that the Word of God does not return void but accomplishes that which He pleases and prospers in the thing whereto He sent it, according to Isaiah 55:10-11. The seed is the Word of God, as in Mark 4:14, and you have done well to sow it in faith, trusting Him who gives the increase. From Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever, as Romans 11:36 declares.

Your burden for your wife, that the kindness of God would lead her to repentance, is a holy burden, for it is the goodness of God that leads to repentance, as Romans 2:4 teaches. We pray with you that the Lord would grant what we have called repentance unto life, that true sign of eternal salvation in Christ. There are many false kinds of repentance which tremble for a time and show a complacency toward the Word and yet fall away. True repentance will yield works meet for repentance, it will be practical repentance, and it will last. It is not a carnal repentance produced by fear or judgment alone, but a holy and heavenly work wrought in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit, a repentance which gives God glory. It makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work.

Remember also that repentance and faith are inseparable. The repentance that ejects sin as an evil tenant is joined to the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart. The repentance which makes us weep and abhor our past life because of the love of Christ which has pardoned it, and which makes us avoid present sin because of the love of God who died for us, is saving repentance. It leads us to look out of self to Christ, and to Christ only, where there is full and free remission of sins. For repentance and remission are to be preached in His name among all nations, and repentance itself is the gift of God. Where there is true godly sorrow there is forgiveness through His blood. And repentance lives as long as faith lives. It is not an operation to be gotten through at the beginning and then forgotten, but a sweet and abiding grace that keeps the soul humble and tender before the Lord.

We pray also with you for godliness with contentment, which is great gain according to 1 Timothy 6:6. Contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated. A man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions. Godliness has the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. It secures the flower and crown of life, not by guaranteeing health or wealth, for some godly saints are appointed to sickness and poverty for their highest perfection, but by forming habits of sobriety, honesty, economy and holiness, and by giving peace within whatever tribulation may last. We ask the Lord to work in your wife such godliness, that she may tremble at His Word, walk in honesty, heed the faithful counsel of pastors who watch for souls, and fulfill with joy the high calling of mothering within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman as God ordained from the beginning.

We ask the Father to continue the work He has begun and to carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ, according to Philippians 1:6. May He restrain evil, bring fresh truth across her path, and raise up others to water the seed that has been sown. And we join you in praying for all who have heard the Word in these months and years, for patriarchal and matriarchal figures, for progeny and posterity, that the Lord would keep them from temptation and deliver them from evil, as we pray in Matthew 6:13, and keep them from the evil one though they remain in the world, as in John 17:15.

May the Lord make you steadfast in sowing, patient in waiting for the harvest, and content in your own sphere to cultivate faithfulness through superior diligence, perseverance and thrift, looking to Christ alone. All the promises of God in Him are Yes and Amen to the glory of God, as 2 Corinthians 1:20 assures us.

We commend your wife and your household to Him who is able to keep you, praying that He will glorify Himself in granting true repentance, godliness, contentment and a heart that trembles at His Word, for His name's sake. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for your wife has been received with thanksgiving, and I join you in lifting it before the Lord who hears.

We thank God that His Word does not return empty but accomplishes the purpose for which He sent it, as Isaiah says, and that the seed which is the Word of God has been planted and watered. We ask the Father, from whom and through whom and to whom are all things, to continue His work in her heart, to bring fresh truth across her path, to restrain evil, and to carry to completion every good work He has begun until the day of Christ, according to His promise in Philippians. We ask that He will bring others to water the seed, to speak truth in love, and to show the kindness of God which leads to repentance.

We pray specifically that the Lord would grant true repentance, not only tears or sorrow for a moment, but a turning of the whole heart that is proved by a changed life. The Scriptures warn that Esau sought the blessing with tears yet found no place of repentance because his was not repentance as it ought to be, without amendment. But where there is a genuine purpose of heart, no multitude of offenses can stand against His mercy. Even Manasseh, after great wickedness, washed away his sins by repentance and consideration, for God gives space through His patience that we might gather the fruit of amendment.

We ask that He teach her godliness with contentment, which is great gain. This gain is not in possessing wealth or in having more, for we brought nothing into this world and we will take nothing out, but in learning to be content with what God provides and to prefer godliness above all. May she be exercised unto godliness, practicing it daily, enduring with a pure life and virtuous conversation, for godliness holds promise for this life and the life to come. May it be seen not only in doctrine but in life, in all godliness and honesty, for to profess to know God and deny Him in works is not honesty. Grant her a love for truthfulness, a willingness to listen to faithful pastors who shepherd according to the Word, a joy in her calling as a mother, and a heart that trembles at His Word.

We also pray as you asked for all who have heard the Word in these months, for the older generations and the younger, for children and grandchildren and those yet to come, that the Lord would keep them from temptation, sin and evil, and keep them from the evil one, as He taught us to pray that we enter not into temptation and yet to take up the cross and follow Him. These are not contradictory but in harmony, for we are to be sober and watchful, not seeking trials, yet ready when the trumpet of godliness calls to stand firm and bruise the work of the enemy.

We trust that He who is faithful will do it. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His design, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and the home is ordered for His glory, but we do ask Him to bless repentance, to bless contentment, to bless honesty and a quiet and peaceable life lived in godliness. May He establish your home in that peace.

In the name of Jesus, in whom all the promises of God are Yes and Amen, we pray that His will be done and His glory be revealed in your family. Amen.
