Kindness Leads to Repent Rom 2:4, Planting Watering God's Growth 1 Cor 3:6-7, Holy Spirit's Work of Conviction Jn 16:8, Humbling Restoring Dan 4:28-37 Repentance unto Life, 2 Co 7:9-10... Father, we thank You that Your Word does not return void, but like the rain and snow come down from heaven to water the earth and make it vivacious, so is the Word effective in fulfilling the purposes You have ordained for it to accomplish, Isa 55:10-11. Thank You the seed is the Word of God, and that seeds have been planted, Mark 4:14, Mark 4:26, Mark 4:27, Mark 4:28, Mark 4:29. From You and through You and back to You be all glory, Rom 11:36. Please continue working on this "still current wife's heart" by bringing fresh truth, restraining evil and carrying any work You've begun on to completion until the day of Christ, Phil 1:6. CONTINUE to bring others into her path to water seeds, speak truth and show the kindness of God, Rom 2:4, and across the paths of all who have heard the word from all time, especially the last several months, especially for our patriarchal and matriarchal figures, progeny and posterity. Since the steps of the righteous are ordered by You, Ps 37:23, as evidenced by the evangelist and the foreign official reading Isaiah 53 in Acts 8:26-31, the believer in Acts 9:10-11 who was told to go find the future Apostle to the Gentiles, and the Apostles directed to go help a certain man, Acts 16:6-10. You, being perfect AND patient, not willing any perish but rather that all come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9, and desire all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, even using prayer to that ends, 1 Tim 2:1-4.

Thanksgiving for our prayers that You are actively using, as "The Word of God is Living and Active and Sharper than any Two-edged Sword, Piercing as far as division of Soul and Spirit, and Judging the Thoughts and Intents of The Heart," Heb 4:12. "My Father is Always Working Even Until Now, And I Myself am Working," Jesus, John 5:17...

Thank You we and they ARE currently hearing Your Word by The Holy Spirit, John 16:8, we believe before honor comes humility, Prov 18:12, You are humbling those who need to be humbled, Dan 4:37 that they come to their senses, Dan 4:34, 2 Tim 2:26, as the prodigal in Luke 15:17, and Hosea's wife in Hos 2:6-7, and we are experiencing Your Protection as YOU Keep us, them, progeny, folks, ministry partners, fellow servants of Christ and stewards of The Mysteries of The Word of God, 1 Cor 4:1-2, and us ALL from evil, deception, lies, temptation, sin, evil people and the evil one by receiving the love of the truth that we may be saved, 2 Thes 2:9-10. Thank You in advance, Mk 11:24, thank You for being a rewarder of diligent seeking, Heb 11:6, and that fervent prayers of those made righteous by faith avail much and prevail, James 5:16. Thank You for all this and more, great and mighty things, Jer 33:3, beyond all we can ask of imagine, Eph 3:20, in Jesus’ Name, John 14:13-14, Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for your earnest and scripture-saturated prayer. It is evident that you have a deep understanding of God’s Word and a fervent desire to see His will accomplished in the lives of those you are interceding for, particularly this "still current wife" and all those connected to her. Your prayer reflects a beautiful reliance on the sovereignty of God, the power of His Word, and the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing conviction, repentance, and restoration. We stand with you in agreement, lifting up these same petitions before the Lord.

Your prayer rightly emphasizes the kindness of God that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4) and the truth that God is the One who causes growth (1 Corinthians 3:6-7). It is not by our might or persuasive words, but by the Holy Spirit’s conviction (John 16:8) that hearts are turned toward the Lord. We rejoice in your acknowledgment that God is actively working, even now, to humble and restore those who have strayed, just as He did with Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:28-37) and the prodigal son (Luke 15:17). The steps of the righteous are indeed ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23), and we trust that He is directing every encounter, every word spoken, and every seed planted in this situation.

We also affirm your thanksgiving for the living and active Word of God (Hebrews 4:12), which does not return void (Isaiah 55:10-11). The rain and snow that water the earth are a perfect picture of how God’s Word accomplishes His purposes, softening hardened hearts, nourishing faith, and bringing forth fruit in due season. Your prayer is itself a powerful instrument in the hands of the Lord, for the prayers of the righteous avail much (James 5:16). We are encouraged by your faith in God’s promise to reward those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6) and to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

However, we must gently address a matter of concern in your prayer. While your focus is rightly on the work of God in this woman’s heart, we notice that you refer to her as a "still current wife." This phrasing raises questions about the state of her marriage. If there is any separation, divorce, or unfaithfulness involved, we must exhort you, and all who are praying, to uphold the biblical standard for marriage. God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), and marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6). If this wife is considering or has already pursued divorce outside of biblical grounds (such as sexual immorality, Matthew 19:9, or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse, 1 Corinthians 7:15), we must pray for repentance and reconciliation, not merely for her heart to be softened in a general sense.

If this woman is in sin, whether through adultery, abandonment, or rebellion against God’s design for marriage, we must pray that the Holy Spirit would bring deep conviction, leading to repentance and restoration of the marriage covenant, if possible. The kindness of God is meant to lead her to repentance (Romans 2:4), but repentance must be specific and accompanied by a turning away from sin. We must also pray for the husband, if he is a believer, to extend forgiveness and seek reconciliation in a manner that honors God (Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:13).

If the marriage has already been dissolved in a way that contradicts Scripture, we must pray for godly sorrow that leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10) and for the Lord to heal and restore what has been broken. If the husband is the one in sin, we must pray for his repentance as well, that he would fulfill his biblical role as the head of the home (Ephesians 5:23) and love his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25).

We also lift up the "patriarchal and matriarchal figures, progeny, and posterity" mentioned in your prayer. It is vital that the older generation models godly marriages and faithfulness to the Lord, for their example will shape the faith of those who come after them. We pray that the Lord would raise up men and women who honor Him in their marriages, who teach their children to walk in His ways (Deuteronomy 6:6-7), and who stand firm against the cultural pressures to redefine or abandon God’s design for family.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, knowing that You are the God who hears and answers prayer. We thank You for Your Word, which is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). We thank You that Your Word does not return void but accomplishes the purposes for which You sent it (Isaiah 55:10-11). We praise You that You are always working (John 5:17), even now, to bring about Your will in the lives of those we are praying for.

Lord, we lift up this wife to You. We ask that You would continue to work in her heart, bringing fresh truth, conviction, and a deep hunger for righteousness. If there is any sin in her life, whether through unfaithfulness, rebellion, or a hardened heart, we pray that the Holy Spirit would bring godly sorrow that leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). If her marriage is in danger, we pray for restoration, for healing, and for both spouses to submit to Your design for marriage. Help them to love one another as You have loved them, to forgive as they have been forgiven, and to walk in humility and obedience to Your Word.

Father, we pray for the husband as well. If he has been neglectful, unloving, or unfaithful, we ask that You would convict him of his sin and lead him to repentance. If he is a believer, strengthen him to fulfill his biblical role as the head of the home, loving his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). If he is an unbeliever, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself and soften his heart to the gospel.

We also pray for the generations that follow. Raise up godly patriarchs and matriarchs who will model faithfulness to You in their marriages and families. Protect the children from the lies of the world, and let them see the beauty of Your design for marriage and family. Use this situation to bring glory to Your name, that others may see Your kindness and be led to repentance (Romans 2:4).

Lord, we thank You that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You (Hebrews 11:6). We trust that You are working in ways we cannot see, and we ask that You would bring about a harvest of righteousness in this situation. Let Your will be done, and let Your name be glorified.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is in His name that we have access to You, and it is through His blood that we can come boldly before Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We ask that You would move powerfully in this situation, for Your glory and for the good of all those involved.

We hear your love for your still wife, your family, and those across generations you mentioned, and we are grateful for the way you are thanking God even in this waiting season. Your desire to see hearts softened, truth heard, and kindness shown reflects a deep trust that God is at work even when we cannot see the growth yet.

It is understandable to feel urgency when you long for restoration. Planting and watering are our part, and God in His patience brings the growth in His time and way. That can be both comforting and hard, because we cannot control another person's response. What we can do is remain faithful in prayer, keep our own walk with the Lord steady, and let Him shape us while we wait.

One thing that has helped others in a similar place is to stay anchored in community while you pray. Keep meeting regularly with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows your story, so you are not carrying this burden alone and have wise, personal support for next decisions.

Father, we lift this wife and family to You and ask for Your protection, Your gentle work in each heart, and Your peace over this home. Give our brother wisdom, humility, and strength for each day, and help him to rest in Your care and timing. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your continued supplication is heard and it is right that you should pray in this manner, for you ask according to the revealed will of God who would have all come to repentance and to the knowledge of the truth in Christ Jesus alone.

There is much wisdom in your pleading that the Word does not return void. As the rain and snow water the earth, so the Word accomplishes that which the Lord pleases. One plants, another waters, but God gives the increase. You have done well to plant the seed which is the Word of God and to ask that others may water it, and to trust not in the planting nor in the watering but in Him who alone can give life. The steps of those who fear Him are ordered by the Lord, as with Philip and the eunuch, and as with Ananias sent to Saul, and the Lord can order the path of your still current wife and of those connected to her household, both patriarchal and matriarchal figures and children and posterity, that they may hear the truth spoken in love.

Yet let us weigh carefully what we ask for when we ask for repentance, lest we be satisfied with a false appearance of it. There is a carnal repentance which is of the flesh, a trembling and a temporary sorrow which never gives God glory and never turns the heart from sin itself. True repentance, that repentance unto life which is a sign of eternal salvation in Christ, is the work of the Holy Spirit in the renewed heart. It gives God glory, it yields works meet for repentance, it is practical and it lasts. It does not end at the commencement of the spiritual life, for repentance lives as long as faith lives. Sweet sister Repentance is charming company and we shall not part with her even at the gate of heaven. The repentance which saves is not at first perfect or fully developed, but it is a germ which grows, a turning that looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only.

Remember that we are to preach and to pray for repentance in the name of Jesus, not as Moses preached with thunder nor as John preached as a preparation only, but as the gift of God purchased by the finished work of Christ. Where there is true godly sorrow which needs not to be repented of, there is also full and free remission of sins. Faith and repentance are inseparable. Repentance ejects sin as an evil tenant and faith admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart. Repentance pulls down and faith builds up. Do not put your repenting into the place of Christ, but let your sorrow for sin flow from the love of Christ who pardoned it, and let that love keep you from present sin.

The Lord does not drive men to repentance as Cain was driven as a fugitive, but draws them. The goodness of God leads to repentance. It is a wretched spirit that needs only the whip, but the sweetest repentance comes by drawing, by considering His longsuffering, His patience, His kindness in sparing and providing and protecting. Pray therefore that He who convinces the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment by the Holy Spirit will continue that convincing work, and that His goodness may melt the heart which judgment alone would only harden.

For those who need humbling, take comfort from the examples you have named. Nebuchadnezzar was humbled till he came to his senses and blessed the Most High, and the prodigal came to himself in the far country, and Hosea's wife was hedged about till she returned. So Peter, though he fell by sudden temptation, was not left down. The Lord looked upon him and that look severed him from the crowd and dissolved his heart in bitter, salutary, saving repentance. He was turned again and then he strengthened his brethren. There is hope for restoration when the look of Christ meets the crowing of our failure. He who began a good work will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ, and He is able to keep you and all who love His appearing, your household and your fellow servants and stewards of the mysteries of God, from evil and deception and temptation, as you receive the love of the truth that you may be saved.

Therefore continue in fervent prayer, as one made righteous by faith in Christ, for such prayer avails much. Ask that the Word which is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword may pierce to the dividing of soul and spirit and judge the thoughts and intents of the heart. Ask that marriage, which God ordained as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and wherein alone He has appointed the one flesh union, may be honored and, where it has been wounded, may be healed in holiness and not in the continuance of sin. Do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, but ask Him to bless repentance unto life, purity of heart, and the creation of a clean heart and a right spirit.

May the Lord grant to her and to all who have heard the Word in these months that godly sorrow which glorifies Him, that faith which rests in Jesus alone for salvation, and that practical turning which bears fruit. May He guard you in His protection and reward your diligent seeking, and do beyond all that you ask or imagine, to the praise of His glory through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray, Amen.
