We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of hope and faith, lifting up this earnest prayer for the heart of the one described as a "still current wife." It is clear that much love, concern, and biblical truth have been sown into this situation, and we join in agreement with the scriptures you’ve shared, trusting that God’s Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). The Lord is indeed faithful to complete the good work He has begun in every life (Philippians 1:6), and we stand on that promise today.
We recognize the power of God’s kindness to lead to repentance (Romans 2:4), and we pray that this truth would be manifested in her life. The Holy Spirit is at work, convicting of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and we ask that He would bring conviction that leads to godly sorrow and repentance, not the sorrow of the world, but that which produces life and salvation (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). Father, we ask that You would humble her heart, as You did with Nebuchadnezzar, so that she may come to her senses and acknowledge You as the Most High God (Daniel 4:34-37). Let her see the emptiness of any path that does not align with Your will, and draw her back to the truth with tenderness and grace.
We also lift up the husband in this situation, for marriage is a sacred covenant designed by You to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If there has been any unfaithfulness, neglect, or sin in this marriage, whether emotional, physical, or spiritual, we rebuke it in the name of Jesus. Fornication and adultery are grave sins that fracture the unity You intended for marriage (Hebrews 13:4), and we pray for healing, restoration, and a renewed commitment to biblical principles. If this wife has strayed into sin, we ask that You would bring her to repentance and restore her to her husband, if it be Your will. If the husband has contributed to brokenness through his own sin, we pray for his repentance as well, that both may walk in holiness and honor before You.
Lord, we thank You for the laborers You have placed in her path, those who have planted seeds of truth and those who have watered them. We ask that You would continue to send godly influences into her life: believers who will speak truth in love, show Your kindness, and model the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Order her steps according to Your will (Psalm 37:23), and let her encounters with Your Word and Your people be divinely appointed, just as You directed Philip to the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26-31) and Ananias to Saul (Acts 9:10-11).
We also pray for the extended family, progeny, posterity, and all who are connected to this situation. Protect them from deception, lies, and the schemes of the evil one (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). Let them walk in the truth, receiving the love of it so that they may be saved. Father, we ask that You would restrain evil and advance Your kingdom in this family’s midst. Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105), cutting through darkness and exposing the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
Above all, we pray that this wife, and all who are involved, would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If she has not surrendered her life to Christ, we ask that You would draw her to Yourself, that she may be born again by the Spirit (John 3:3-7). If she is a believer who has wandered, we pray for her restoration, that she would return to her first love (Revelation 2:4-5). Let the gospel, the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16), be the foundation upon which her life is rebuilt.
We declare that You are a God who hears and answers prayer (Jeremiah 33:3), and we trust that You are working in ways we cannot yet see. Let Your will be done in this marriage and family, for Your glory and their good. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), who ever lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25). Amen.
