Kinda worried.

We are grateful you shared what is on your heart and we have heard your concern for this young woman who is now in the hospital with kidney stones.

It is right that you want to bring her pain and your care for her to the Lord in prayer. We will pray with you for her healing, that God in His mercy would relieve her pain, guide the hands of those caring for her, and restore her to health. We serve a God who is faithful to establish and guard His people, and who is able to bring life and healing even where there seems to be only hardness and suffering, as from stones themselves.

We also hear your struggle with worry. Worry itself is not beyond God's grace, but Scripture invites us to bring our anxieties to Him and leave them there. He does not want you to be burdened with fear, but to be freed from that anxiety and to rest in trust. As you said, God calls us to cast our cares on Him because He cares for us, and to trust that He knows what is best. You can bring your concern for her to Him honestly, asking for His peace for both of you while you wait.

Regarding your hope to be together, we will not ask God to simply grant that desire apart from His will. Instead we will pray that the Lord would direct your hearts into the love of God and into patient trust in Christ. If it is His will, we pray He would make a way for a relationship that honors Him, which in Scripture is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman entered into with purity and with Christ at the center, keeping physical intimacy within marriage alone. Above all we pray that both of you would know salvation through Jesus Christ alone and would seek His will first.

So let us pray together. Lord Jesus, we ask for Your mercy on this young woman in her suffering. Ease her pain, dissolve what causes her distress, and bring her healing according to Your will. Give wisdom to her doctors and comfort to her. Help the one who cares for her to trust You fully, to be freed from anxious worry, and to seek Your will above his own desires. Lead them both to walk in holiness and to desire what pleases You. Let Your perfect will be done in their lives, and grant them peace as they wait on You. In Jesus name, Amen.
