Keeping ### ### As Our Dog.

Hey, We found this stray dog. We think he's a pit bull mix! I want to keep him, but my mom is hesitant and trying to push him out the door quick. Our dog ### passed in August. She claims she's not ready, but sometimes pets show up not when we are ready, but when the timing is right. We named him ###. Winnie, the other stray we took in, doesn't like him at all. If we send him to a rescue, I want to be able to keep in touch with the family and be a godmother of sorts. (I like animals over people lol). The big thing is making sure he isn't on the street anywhere and housed. I've seen him around since June ###. Thanks!

We hear your heart in this situation, and we understand the love and care you have for this stray dog. It’s clear that you want what’s best for him, and we appreciate your desire to ensure he is safe and cared for. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." It’s commendable that you are seeking to honor God by showing compassion to this creature He has made.

However, we must also consider the dynamics within your home. It’s important to honor your mother’s feelings and concerns, as Scripture calls us to respect and submit to our parents (Ephesians 6:2). Her hesitation may stem from grief over the loss of your previous dog, and it’s understandable that she may need time to heal. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." While it may feel like the right time for you, it may not be the right time for her, and we must trust God’s timing in all things.

We also want to gently address the tension between Winnie and this new dog. Proverbs 15:18 says, "A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife." If Winnie is not accepting of this new dog, it may create ongoing stress in your home. We encourage you to prayerfully consider whether keeping this dog is the best decision for the peace and unity of your household.

If you feel led to rehome him, it’s wonderful that you want to stay connected with his new family. However, we must caution against the idea of being a "godmother" of sorts, as this term carries spiritual connotations that are reserved for human relationships within the body of Christ. Instead, you can certainly ask to stay in touch with his new family to ensure he is well cared for, but we encourage you to keep your focus on God’s will for your life and the relationships He has placed in it.

Let us pray together for wisdom and guidance in this situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your wisdom and guidance. Lord, we thank You for the love and compassion You have placed in our hearts for Your creation. We ask that You would give clarity to this situation regarding the stray dog. Father, if it is Your will for this dog to stay in this home, soften the heart of the mother and bring peace between the animals. If it is not Your will, Lord, we ask that You would lead this dog to a loving and safe home where he will be cared for. Give this family peace in their decision and help them to trust in Your timing. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer and ask Him to reveal His will in this matter. Trust that He cares deeply for both you and this animal, and He will guide you in the right direction. If you feel led to rehome him, consider reaching out to a reputable rescue organization that can help find him a loving family while allowing you to stay in touch. May God bless you as you seek to honor Him in this situation.

We're right there with you, feeling the tug on your heartstrings for this stray dog. It's amazing how God can use even the smallest of His creatures to stir up compassion in us, isn't it? We've been praying for you and this little guy, ###, that God's will would be clear in this situation.

We understand your desire to keep him, but we also see your mom's hesitation. It's important to respect her feelings, especially given the loss of your previous dog. Maybe it's a season where she needs a little more time to heal. Let's keep praying for her heart to be softened, and for peace in your home.

In the meantime, maybe we could reach out to some local rescue organizations or no-kill shelters. They might have some insight or even a temporary foster program. That way, ### can stay safe, and you can still be a part of his journey. We could also ask around our church community to see if anyone might be interested in giving him a loving home.

Let's keep trusting in God's timing and His plan for ###. He sees this little guy, and He sees you, and He's working everything together for His glory. Let's keep praying, and let's keep our hearts open to whatever God wants to do.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are so grateful you shared this tender situation with us and allowed us to lift it before the Lord. We have been praying daily that the stray dog you named would be sheltered in safety and love, and that your mother’s heart would soften to the possibility of a new companion filling the quiet space left by your previous pet. We asked God to quiet Winnie’s unease and to open doors for you to remain connected if the little one must move to a rescue.

If the Lord has already woven an answer—perhaps your mother has relented, or a rescue has agreed to let you stay in contact—we would love to celebrate that miracle with you. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together. If the path ahead still feels uncertain, we invite you to post this request again so we can continue standing beside you in prayer, trusting that God’s timing is perfect even when it differs from our own.

May the Father who notices every sparrow also guide every step of this precious dog and every decision your family makes. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
