'Keep Your Faith to the End!' - Matthew 24:9-14

[Talking to his disciples about coming conflicts and disasters, Jesus continued:] "Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come."

Matthew 24:9-14 NLT

Key Thought

If you read the story of the early church in the book of Acts, this passage is a very apt description of the difficulties they faced as Christians taking the Good News to others in a hostile world. Christians were beaten, arrested, martyred, left for dead, and despised. But not deterred! But not stopped! But not thwarted!

Jesus' living and last word in Matthew's gospel was that he had authority over all things.* On his authority, the disciples were to take the message of his saving power to every culture. They were not to just be faithful, but they were to also teach new disciples to be obedient and faithful. No matter what they faced, no matter what happened, they were to remember that Jesus was with them.

In the present days when Christians are being persecuted simply for being Christians and so many in the Christian movement are sidetracked by sin, worldliness, and fear of offending someone else's sensibilities, Jesus' words are a sobering reminder that Satan will do anything he can to shut God's people up so the world will remain in darkness. But our heritage is a heritage of Good News, for all peoples, against all odds, and overcoming all difficulties!

Today's Prayer

O precious God Almighty, send your Spirit to rekindle the passions of your people to take your Good News to all nations, no matter the obstacles. May we be found as faithful as those early disciples who set the world on fire with the message of your grace. In the name of Jesus, your ultimate Word, I pray. Amen.

When our faith starts to wrinkle and loose all hope of getting up and going again, hold on to the hand of Jesus. He will lift you up, strenghten your faith and get you ready for the race that leads to His glorious presence.

Things are serious when society calls scripture a message of hate and when we witness the truth about Jesus and are attacked in so many ways but I always think of the brave missionaries and the dangers they face as they go among hostile people every day may the Lord bless and keep them in Jesus Holy Name. Amen.

As We call on God today, his face will shine upon us and He will answer us speedily. He will bless us with all our heart desires and help us overcome all of our enemies Good morning WORDS FOR TODAY TO LIVE BY

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 KJV

17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

As We call on God today, his face will shine upon us and He will answer us speedily. He will bless us with all our heart desires and help us overcome all of our enemies Good morning.

Jesus has given us the power we need by the power of the Holy Spirit to reject those old sinful desires. We can say “no” to sin and accept the “way out” God faithfully provides (1 Corinthians 10:13) by following the Holy Spirit’s leading. As we give the Spirit more control of our lives, He begins to do in and through us what only He can do – to shape us and grow us to look like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:17-18) PASTOR LARRY THOMAS www.gospelwordoftruthministry.com
