Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden for God's creation and for asking for prayer. Your concern is right and biblical. God formed man from the dust and made the world by His wisdom, and all creation belongs to Him. When people begin to intrude upon that creation through attempts to remake life itself, it is right to bring it before the Lord.
Scripture teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning and the sum of true knowledge, and to fear the Lord is to hate evil. Real wisdom does not come from human intellect alone. The Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. A true search for understanding will lead a person to God. That is why your prayer is so needed, that researchers, politicians, ethics councils and all who have influence in these fields would receive a humble and reverent fear of God. Before honor is humility, and God brings down the proud but lifts up the humble. Without that humility, knowledge puffs up and leads people to do shocking things, even to try to create or alter creatures in ways God never intended.
History shows that God sets boundaries. There have been times when mankind reached a point of great development, especially in corrupting what God made, and God said enough and cut it off. Before the flood, evil and corruption filled the earth and God wiped it out and began again with Noah. God sees everywhere. His eyes are in every place. Nothing done in a laboratory or in secret councils is hidden from Him. We can wonder how far He will allow these present developments to go, but we can be sure He remains sovereign and will not allow man to go beyond what He permits. He will bring judgment on what is evil, and He will keep His promises and His covenants of mercy to those who love Him.
For those who are children of God through faith in Jesus Christ, we do not need to live in terror about these things. In this alien world we will have tribulation, but Christ has borne the wrath of God for our sin and we will not face that wrath. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear takes over, faith departs, and when we trust the Lord, fear is driven out. The Lord is our confidence and our refuge. He is our place of strength and protection, and He keeps our feet from being taken. When the desolation of the wicked comes, we need not be afraid, for the Lord will be with us. To be conscious of His presence dispels fear.
So I join you in prayer, and will continue to pray as you asked. I pray that God would grant to those in science and government a spirit of the fear of the Lord and true humility, that they would hate evil and turn from pride, that God would restrain what is contrary to His will and direct all things according to His purpose, and that He would use all things for good, and especially for the good of His children. I pray that the beauty of the Lord would be upon His people and that He would establish the work of our hands as we seek to be a light in darkness and a witness for Jesus Christ. May the Lord keep you in His peace and confidence as you trust Him, in Jesus name, Amen.
