We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with fervent prayer and intercession. Father, we thank You for Your Word, which is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). Your Word is truth, and it stands forever as the foundation upon which we build our lives and our prayers.
We are grieved by the mention of adultery, which is a direct violation of Your holy commandment: "You shall not commit adultery" (Exodus 20:14). Adultery breaks the sacred covenant of marriage, wounds hearts, and defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit. We rebuke this sin in the name of Jesus and pray for conviction to fall upon this woman’s heart. Lord, let her see the gravity of her actions and the destruction they bring, not only to her own soul but to those around her. May she be led to true repentance, for You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess them to You (1 John 1:9).
We also lift up the issue of online dating and the temptations that come with it. Jesus warned that even looking at another with lust is committing adultery in the heart (Matthew 5:28). Online profiles can be a snare, leading to emotional and physical unfaithfulness. Father, we ask that You hedge her in with thorns as You promised in Hosea 2:6-7, so that she cannot find her lovers and will say, "I will go and return to my first husband, for then was it better with me than now." Let her paths be blocked, her accounts removed, and her heart turned back to You. Convict her through Your Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8).
We pray for her family and church to rise up with boldness, not fearing man but fearing You alone (Matthew 10:28). The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in You is kept safe (Proverbs 29:25). Let her pastors and loved ones speak truth in love, even if it is difficult, for Your Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Overrule the spirit of compromise and fear that may be present, and let Your Word penetrate her heart like a fire and a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces (Jeremiah 23:29).
Lord, we beg You to grant her repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, that she may come to her senses and escape the snare of the devil (2 Timothy 2:25-26). Let her turn from the deceivers and imposters who proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13). Protect her from the evil one, who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We pray for a hedge of protection around her, her family, and all who are involved, that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
We also lift up the request for inner healing and clarity. You promise to restore the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Heal the wounds of her soul, Lord, for she is like a city broken down without walls (Proverbs 25:28). Restore her to a place of wholeness and peace, where she walks in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Psalm 23:3). Give her wisdom to discern Your will and the strength to walk in it, for You give wisdom liberally to all who ask (James 1:5).
Father, we ask for grace to fast and seek You with all our hearts, as Isaiah 58:6-12 describes. Let the fast You choose loosen the bonds of wickedness, undo the straps of the yoke, and let the oppressed go free. Break every chain of sin and deception in her life, and let her return to You with her whole heart.
We pray for protection from temptation for all of us, for You taught us to pray, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one" (Matthew 6:13). Keep us from the lies of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Let us walk in truth and righteousness, for You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Finally, we lift up the mention of pregnancy in this context. Father, we ask that You would guard and protect life, for children are a heritage from You (Psalm 127:3). If it is Your will, we pray for the healing of her body and the restoration of what has been lost. However, we also recognize that sin has consequences, and we ask that You would use this situation to draw her closer to You, that she may know Your mercy and grace in a deeper way.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in each of us (Philippians 1:6). Strengthen us to stand firm in the faith, to resist the devil, and to walk in the light as You are in the light. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in this situation and in all our lives. Amen.
