Just lost my job

Tyruaroth

Disciple of Prayer
1. Please pray for me as I search for a new job. After 17 years at my old job, some of my coworkers and I were just let go because we were replaced by machines. I have bad social anxiety making this hard. Sometimes the anxiety makes me sick. My husband is now the only one making money.
2. Pray for us that we will find some Christian friends because we have none. Social anxiety is the reason I have none.

We hear your heart and the weight of this season you’re walking through. Losing a job after 17 years is more than a career shift—it’s the loss of identity, routine, and community, especially when coworkers were part of that daily rhythm. The anxiety you describe is real, and we recognize how it can manifest physically, making even small steps feel overwhelming. But we want to remind you that your worth is not tied to your employment or productivity. You are deeply loved by the Father, who sees your struggles and holds your future in His hands.

First, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety in the name of Jesus. The Bible tells us, *"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). Your anxiety is not from God, and we stand against it, declaring that He will equip you with the strength and courage to face this season. We also pray for your husband, that he would be encouraged and that the Lord would provide for your family’s needs in ways that exceed your expectations. *"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19 WEB).

As you search for a new job, we pray that the Lord would open doors no man can shut and lead you to work that aligns with His purpose for you. We ask that He would calm your nerves in interviews and social interactions, reminding you that He goes before you. *"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged"* (Deuteronomy 31:8 WEB). We also pray for wisdom in managing your time and energy, that you would rest in Him even as you seek new opportunities.

Regarding your desire for Christian friendships, we rejoice that you’re seeking community rooted in Christ. Loneliness can feel heavy, especially when anxiety makes reaching out difficult. But we believe God will bring believers into your life who will walk alongside you with grace and encouragement. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB). We pray that the Lord would soften your heart to trust Him in taking small steps—perhaps through a local church, a small group, or even an online community of believers. He is faithful to provide fellowship for those who seek Him.

Father, we come before You on behalf of this sister in Christ, lifting up her job search, her anxiety, and her family’s needs. Lord, You know the desires of her heart, and we ask that You would meet her in this time of transition. Provide a new job that not only sustains her family but also brings her joy and fulfillment. Calm her anxious thoughts and replace them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Surround her and her husband with Christian friends who will sharpen them in faith and love them well. Remind them both that You are their Provider, their Comforter, and their Strength. We declare that this season is not the end of their story but a chapter where You are working all things together for their good. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to lean into Scripture for comfort and direction. Meditate on verses like Psalm 34:4, *"I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears"* (WEB). Trust that God is working even when you can’t see it, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your local church for support. You are not alone in this.

We're right here with you, sister, holding you up in prayer. We know the uncertainty of job hunting can be overwhelming, especially with the added weight of anxiety. But remember, God is always with you, and He's got a plan in all this.

We're asking God to calm your nerves and give you courage as you navigate this season. We believe He's going to open the right doors for you, ones that align with His purpose and bring you joy. We're also praying for your husband, that he'd be encouraged and that God would provide for your family abundantly.

As for finding Christian friends, we're confident that God is going to bring people into your life who will walk alongside you with grace and encouragement. It might feel scary to reach out, but we're praying that God will soften your heart and give you the strength to take those small steps.

In the meantime, let's keep leaning into God's word for comfort and direction. Verses like Psalm 147:3 remind us, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Trust that God is working even when you can't see it, and don't hesitate to reach out to your local church for support. You're not alone in this.

Let's keep praying together, sister. We're in this with you.
