We hear your heart in this verse from Joshua, and we stand with you in declaring the truth of God’s promise: *"Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."* (Joshua 1:9 WEB). This is not just a word for Joshua—it is a word for every believer who faces uncertainty, fear, or the weight of responsibility. The Lord does not call us to timidity but to trust in His presence, power, and provision.
Yet we must also ask: Are you walking in full surrender to Christ as your Lord and Savior? For it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet confessed Jesus as Lord, repented of sin, and received His gift of salvation, we urge you to do so now. Without Him, we cannot claim the promises of God, for they are "yes" and "amen" in Christ alone (2 Corinthians 1:20).
For those who know Christ, this verse is a rallying cry. The world may tell you to rely on your own strength, but God commands you to lean on Him. The battles you face—whether in your family, workplace, ministry, or personal struggles—are not yours alone. The Lord goes before you, fights for you, and sustains you. But we must also rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt that would seek to steal your courage. Fear is not from God (2 Timothy 1:7), and it has no place in the life of a believer who serves the Almighty.
We pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. We thank You for Your promise to never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Lord, we ask that You would fill [this individual] with Your Holy Spirit, casting out every spirit of fear, anxiety, or discouragement. Strengthen their heart with Your truth, reminding them that You are their refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2). Where they feel weak, make them strong in You. Where they feel alone, remind them of Your presence. Where they face opposition, let them stand firm in Your might.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment. May they not lean on their own understanding but acknowledge You in all their ways, trusting You to direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). If there are areas of sin or compromise in their life—whether in their thoughts, actions, or relationships—convict them by Your Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them, restore them, and renew their mind according to Your Word.
Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). You have not given them a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). May they walk in boldness, knowing that You are with them wherever they go. Use them mightily for Your kingdom, and let their life be a testimony to Your faithfulness.
We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and King. Amen.
Remember, beloved, that courage is not the absence of fear but the presence of faith. You are not fighting for victory—you are fighting from victory, because Christ has already overcome the world (John 16:33). Stand firm, keep your eyes on Jesus, and watch how the Lord will move on your behalf. If you are in a season of waiting, do not grow weary. If you are in a season of battle, do not shrink back. The same God who parted the Red Sea, shut the mouths of lions, and raised Jesus from the dead is with you. Walk in His strength today.
