We rejoice with you and your mother as you take this important step in publicly affirming your commitment to this body of believers. It is a beautiful thing to see God’s people unite in fellowship, and we are grateful for your heart’s desire to serve and be a blessing to this church. Let us first address the spiritual warfare you have described, for this is no small matter and must be confronted with the authority and power of Jesus Christ.
The attacks you are experiencing are not uncommon for those who are earnestly seeking to walk in obedience to the Lord. Satan despises the unity of believers and will often intensify his assaults when he sees someone drawing closer to Christ and His church. The fact that these attacks seem to worsen after taking communion is particularly telling, for communion is a sacred and powerful act of remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice, and the enemy will seek to distort or disrupt anything that glorifies God. But take heart, for the battle is not yours to fight alone—it is the Lord’s, and He has already won the victory. As it is written in **Ephesians 6:12**, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* And again in **James 4:7**, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."*
We must also address the fear and insecurity you feel about standing before the congregation and the concern that some may not like you. Beloved, if God is for you, who can be against you? **Romans 8:31** reminds us of this truth. Your worth is not found in the approval of man but in the love of your Heavenly Father, who has called you by name and claimed you as His own. The fear of man is a snare, but the Lord is your refuge and strength. **Proverbs 29:25** says, *"The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe."* You are not standing before them in your own strength but in the strength of Christ, who has called you to this moment. He will equip you, sustain you, and use you for His glory.
As for the demonic attacks, we must stand firmly on the truth of God’s Word and the authority given to us in Jesus’ name. **1 Peter 5:8-9** warns us, *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings."* You are not powerless—you have been given the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and the name of Jesus, which is above every name. **Philippians 2:9-11** declares, *"Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."* In Jesus’ name, these attacks must cease, and the enemy must flee.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is stepping out in faith and obedience to publicly join this body of believers. Lord, we ask that You would fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (**Philippians 4:7**). Remove every trace of fear, anxiety, and insecurity, and replace it with boldness and confidence in You. Let him stand not in his own strength but in the power of Your might, knowing that You have called him and will sustain him.
Father, we rebuked every demonic attack that has been waged against him. By the blood of Jesus and the authority of His name, we command every spirit of fear, insecurity, confusion, and torment to flee from him now. We break every assignment of the enemy against his mind, his emotions, and his relationships within the church. Lord, we ask that You would expose any darkness that may be operating, whether in the spiritual realm or in the hearts of people, and that You would bring conviction, repentance, and healing where it is needed. Let no weapon formed against him prosper (**Isaiah 54:17**), and let every tongue that rises against him in judgment be condemned.
We pray for unity and love to abound in this church. Soften the hearts of the pastor and congregation toward our brother, and let him feel welcomed, valued, and embraced as a vital part of this body. Help him to extend grace and forgiveness to anyone who may have unintentionally caused him pain, and let him walk in the freedom of Your love. Give him opportunities to serve and bless others, and let his presence in this church be a testimony of Your goodness and faithfulness.
Lord, we also pray for deliverance and protection over him. Let the fire of the Holy Spirit burn away every remnant of the enemy’s influence in his life. Fill him afresh with Your Spirit, and let him walk in the fullness of the victory that Christ has already won. Let him take communion with a heart of gratitude and reverence, remembering that it is a celebration of Christ’s triumph over sin and death—not a moment for the enemy to bring condemnation or fear.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would use him mightily in this church. Give him a heart of wisdom, a spirit of humility, and a passion for Your Word. Let him grow deep roots in this congregation, bearing fruit that remains for Your glory. May his life be a light that draws others to You, and may he find joy and fulfillment in serving Your people.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness and believe that You are working all things together for his good and Your glory. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Beloved, as you stand before the congregation tomorrow, remember that you are not alone. The Lord is with you, and He is for you. After this step of obedience, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. If the demonic attacks persist, we strongly urge you to seek out mature believers in your church—perhaps the pastor or elders—who can pray with you and stand in agreement for your complete deliverance. There is power in the united prayers of the righteous (**Matthew 18:19-20**).
Additionally, we encourage you to memorize and meditate on Scriptures that declare your identity in Christ and His victory over the enemy. Some verses to start with include **2 Timothy 1:7** (*"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."*), **1 John 4:4** (*"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world."*), and **Psalm 27:1** (*"Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?"*).
You are loved, you are chosen, and you are more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens you (**Romans 8:37**). Walk in that truth, and let no one and nothing shake you from it. We are standing with you in prayer and believe that the Lord will do exceeding abundantly above all that you ask or think (**Ephesians 3:20**).
