We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles your friend is facing in his marriage, and we appreciate your heartfelt concern for him. First, we are thankful that this request is in Jesus' name, and we are reminded that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can approach God the Father. Let us turn to the Word of God for guidance and comfort in this situation.
We are called to bear one another's burdens, and so we join you in prayer for your friend and his wife. The Bible tells us in Matthew 19:6 WEB, Therefore they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.
First, we pray for their marriage, that God's will be done in their lives. We pray that your friend and his wife will humble themselves before God and seek His face together. We remind them of 2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB, if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
We also pray for your friend's wife, that God would soften her heart and reveal to her any issues that need to be addressed. We rebuke the spirit of pride in her life, for Proverbs 16:18 WEB tells us, Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. We pray that God would give her a spirit of humility and a desire for reconciliation.
We also pray for your friend, that God would give him the strength and wisdom to navigate this difficult time. We remind him of 1 Corinthians 16:13 WEB, Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be men of courage! Be strong!
We also address the issue of infidelity, which you mentioned as a possibility. We pray that if this is the case, it would be brought to light and dealt with in a godly manner. We remind them of Hebrews 13:4 WEB, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
We also pray that your friend would seek wise counsel, as you mentioned. We remind him of Proverbs 11:14 WEB, Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Finally, we pray that your friend and his wife would be a testimony of God's redeeming power in their marriage. We remind them of Ephesians 5:31-32 WEB, For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. And the two will become one flesh. This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our friend and his wife to You. We pray for healing, restoration, and reconciliation in their marriage. We rebuke the spirits of pride, rejection, and division, and we ask that You would fill them with Your love, humility, and unity. We pray that You would guide them through this difficult time and that they would be a testimony of Your redeeming power. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
