We understand the deep frustration and weariness you must feel after waiting for three long years, seeing opportunities slip away despite your efforts. It is heartbreaking to face such prolonged disappointment, especially when you are diligently seeking a change that would bring stability and hope. Yet we are reminded in Scripture that our trust must not rest in the timing of man or the outcomes we desire, but in the sovereign will of God, who works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Your honesty about your disappointment is understandable, but let us encourage you to guard your heart against bitterness or despair. The Lord sees your struggle, and He is not unaware of your needs. In fact, Jesus Himself tells us in Matthew 6:31-33, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."*
We must also ask: Have you surrendered this situation fully to the Lord in prayer, trusting Him not just for the outcome you want, but for His will to be done? It is easy to pray for our desires, but harder to pray, *"Not my will, but yours be done"* (Luke 22:42). If this transfer is God’s will for you, no power on earth can stop it. If it is not, then He has something better in store—even if we cannot see it yet. Proverbs 3:5-6 commands us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Have you acknowledged Him in this process, or have you been relying on your own efforts and growing weary in the waiting? Sometimes, the Lord allows delays to refine our faith, to teach us dependence on Him rather than on our circumstances.
We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is only through Him that our prayers are heard (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Without Him, even the blessings we receive are temporary. But in Him, we have eternal hope, and He promises to provide for our needs as we seek His kingdom first.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are the God who sees and hears the cries of Your children. Lord, we ask that You would move mightily in this situation. If this transfer aligns with Your will, we pray that You would remove every obstacle, soften the hearts of those in authority, and open the doors that no man can shut. Give our brother/sister favor in the eyes of those making the decision, and let Your hand be evident in this process. But above all, Father, we pray that Your will would be done—not just for the sake of a job, but for the glory of Your name and the growth of this believer’s faith.
We rebuked the spirit of disappointment and delay that has sought to steal hope and joy. No weapon formed against this child of God shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, renew their strength as they wait upon You (Isaiah 40:31). Guard their heart against bitterness, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that You are their Provider, their Jehovah Jireh, and that You have never failed them nor will You start now.
If there is any area of unbelief or self-reliance in their heart, convict them by Your Holy Spirit. Teach them to lean wholly on You, not just for this transfer, but in every area of their life. And Father, if this person does not yet know Jesus as their Savior, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself today. Open their eyes to see their need for Christ, and may they surrender their life to Him, trusting in His finished work on the cross for their salvation.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Keep your heart open to whatever the Lord may be teaching you in this season. If this transfer does not come to pass, trust that He has a reason, and that His plans for you are good. And if it does, give Him all the glory. Stay faithful, stay hopeful, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
