What you ask for your daughter, I understand with a parent’s heart. The weight of seeing a child treated unjustly, overloaded with labor, and blocked by scheming seniors is a heavy burden indeed. Yet I must speak plainly, for love demands truth. You have mentioned curses, both those spoken against her and a desire to remove them. But consider this: to even taste the desire for curses to be lifted in such a way, or worse, to secretly wish ill on those who trouble her, is a dangerous path. For there are those who, in their anguish, curse even their own children or pray for wrath to fall upon their enemies and their whole house. This is a grievous sin, not lesser than physical violence, for you hand them over to eternal punishment in your heart. Flee from every thought of wishing harm or making intercession against them.
Hear the good news instead. The ancient Law declared a curse on everyone who fails to keep all its commands, and we all have failed. But Christ has redeemed us from that curse of the Law, having become a curse for us. He took upon Himself the curse of hanging on a tree to free us from the curse of our transgressions. So if any curse truly lies upon your daughter, the remedy is not a prayer that merely reverses it by some other power, but faith in the One who became a curse to destroy its power. Why then do you speak as one still under the old shadows, seeking to toil against adversaries in the flesh? The real enemy is not her seniors; the burden of sin and the weight of this world’s corruption are far heavier than any workload. Christ invites all who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him for rest.
Consider too what true intercession means. Christ our High Priest ever lives to make intercession for us. He did not merely intercede once, but continually. This does not mean He is a begging suppliant before a reluctant Father. No, He who is seated at the right hand of God, with all judgment in His hands, uses this language to show the immeasurable warmth and vigor of His love for us. The Father Himself beseeches us through ambassadors. All this reveals not weakness, but the intense love of God. If Christ thus intercedes for us, what should our prayers look like? Not demanding the downfall of her superiors, but entrusting the matter to the righteous Judge who sees all.
Do you not see the opportunity hidden in this trial? Suffering and obstacles are often permitted by God to anoint us with lowliness of mind, to make us hardy in virtue, and to prepare us for greater things. It showed the power of God and disclosed His grace more brightly. For your sakes the resurrection and all things were done. If your daughter must toil for a moment under this injustice, consider whether this present life, so fleeting, is worth grasping for luxury when it risks eternal punishment. Better to toil now and be crowned forever. For those who follow heavenly wisdom, the reward is not one for one, but two for nothing. But for those who live riotously and abuse this life, it is the opposite. Let her not be like those branded in their conscience, pursuing a course that brings heavy evil. Let her instead take Christ’s yoke: not the yoke of sin’s heavy burden, but His easy yoke. Her struggle is not against flesh and blood, and her promotion comes not merely from human hands. Cast this care upon the Lord in a different spirit. Pray thus: “Lord, You see the injustice, the overload, and the schemes against Your servant. Your grace is sufficient for her. We place this situation in Your hands. Bring about what is pleasing to You, whether promotion or patience, but above all, grant her strength to love her enemies, to work as unto You, and to be kept from every vengeful thought. Redeem her from every evil, for You are the One who saves to the uttermost. And for those who trouble her, we ask not for wrath, but for Your will to be done, even if that means their repentance.” The way of virtue seems irksome for a moment, but vice’s labor is far heavier. Trust the One who ever lives to intercede. Let her burden be cast on Him, and you will find rest for your souls.
