This is my first year teaching. The principal (who is retiring) is trying to blackball me (so it seems). She has told me that she does not intend to renew my contract and that furthermore she will recommend that the district not rehire me. I've done nothing wrong, and she has not provided me with specific concrete reasons for her decisions. I have requested a meeting with the superintendent. It is scheduled for this Monday @ 3 pm. I am a career switcher. I just completed my MS this past December (including my student teaching). I have had a lot to learn, but my skills have improved considerably. I'm not sure why she has been so gravely critical. But my career, livelihood and financial future depend on this meeting and the superintendents' decisions. I have incurred nearly a $50,000 loan in order to make this switch w/ the full intent of using the teacher cancellation loan to pay off my debt which requires 5 ys of teaching in a title one school. If she does something to block my continued teaching I will be financially crucified. AND, I don't think another school is going to be ready to snatch me up w/o her recommendation. I cannot determine anything I've done to warrant this treatment. I need favor in my meeting with my superintendent this Monday, and his willingness to reverse her decision and/or to be willing to give me another chance (and to renew the contract so that i can go on teaching). Also, my family is here & i just relocated back to the area last July. I have no desire to relocate again so soon.
