Job Needed

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Pray that ### would be offered a job. ### has not worked in decades, but desperately needs a job. ### is becoming depressed without a job.

We have heard this burden and we join together in bringing this dear one before the Lord who has not worked in decades and now desperately needs employment and is growing depressed without it. We understand how heavy this waiting and sense of purposelessness can feel, and we want to lift this need up with compassion and hope.

We are reminded that God is our provider and that He sees every need. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 We also know that work itself is part of God's good design for us, to give us purpose and to provide for our needs. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23 And Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3 We encourage this dear one to keep seeking diligently, to commit each application and interview to the Lord, and to trust that God can open doors that no man can shut, even after many years without employment. Do not be anxious, for God knows what we need and calls us to seek first His Kingdom. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

We also carry the heaviness of depression in this request to the Lord. We know that prolonged unemployment can lead to discouragement and feelings of worthlessness, but God draws near to those who are hurting. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 We pray that discouragement would not take root, but that this dear one would experience the peace of God. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 And we hold fast to this promise, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

We noticed that this request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father, and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 We encourage this dear one to call upon the name of Jesus, to trust in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins, and to come boldly to the throne of grace through Him. When we pray in Jesus name we are not using a mere phrase, we are coming by the only way God has provided.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You know the need for a job after so many years without work, You see the financial pressure, the longing for purpose, and the depression that is growing. Lord, we ask that You would provide according to Your will, that You would open the right door of employment where this dear one can work honestly, provide for needs, and glorify You. Give favor with employers, give strength and confidence for each step, and give wisdom to know where to apply and how to prepare. Heal the brokenheartedness and lift the heaviness of depression, replace anxiety with Your peace, and remind this dear one that their worth is found in being Your child and not in a job title alone. Draw this dear one close to Jesus, grant repentance and faith where needed, and help them to seek You first and trust You daily. We ask that You would supply all needs, restore hope, and let this dear one experience Your nearness and provision. We pray all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We were so glad you reached out and let us pray with you about work. Going a long time without a job can wear on anyone, and it makes sense that the waiting and the silence would feel heavy and discouraging.

We are asking God to open a door for work that fits your needs and abilities, and to give you strength and clarity while you wait. We also hear how the lack of work is affecting your spirits, and we want you to know you are not alone in that.

When work has been absent for a long while, it helps to not carry the search alone. One small step that often helps is to bring one other person into the process this week, perhaps a pastor, a former coworker, or someone at a local workforce or employment office who can look over your experience with you and help you think through what kind of roles might be a good next fit. Even a brief conversation can make the search feel less isolating and give you a clearer next move.

If you notice the discouragement deepening or making daily life harder, please reach out soon to a pastor, counselor or medical professional as well as continuing in prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your provision and guidance in the job search. Give wisdom for each application and conversation, and guard his heart with Your peace and hope. Surround him with supportive people and remind him daily that he is seen and valued by You. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your burden concerning work has been laid before the Lord and before His people, and we join our hearts with yours in prayer.

There is One who sees the need of daily bread and the heaviness of spirit that comes with long waiting. The Scripture tells us that the Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed, and that our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery. When God has gotten His end in them, He turns our captivity. Even Job, who sat among the ashes and was covered with sorrow, found that God had not forgotten him, and at the last he received more than he had lost.

You speak of one who has not worked in decades and now feels the weight of depression for want of employment. This is no light trial. Job himself knew what it was to suffer depression of spirit, to wail bitterly, and to feel his glory withered. Yet it is written of him, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He fell down upon the ground and worshipped. His example teaches us that we may bring our grief and our want directly to the Lord in childlike confidence, even when He seems to frown, and that He is able to uphold those who look to Him for Divine support.

We do not dispute with God concerning His providence, for it is never wise to strive with our Maker. Rather we bow before His sovereignty which, rightly regarded, has no discouragement in it for any seeking soul. The same God who maintained Job and at last anointed him with fresh oil can renew the bow in the hand that has long been slack, and can make glory to be fresh again.

Let us pray together.

O Lord, our heavenly Father, Thou knowest the need of this Thy servant who desires honest work and finds the days heavy. Thou hast promised that Thou wilt not leave Thy people without provision, and that Thou hearest the cry of those who seek Thee. Look in mercy upon this need for employment. In Thy good providence open a door for labour that is suitable and honourable, whereby daily bread may be supplied and the mind and hands may be usefully employed. Lift the cloud of depression that has settled upon the spirit, and give comfort, hope, and a renewed trust in Thy goodness. Keep this soul from unbelieving speeches and from charging Thee foolishly, and grant grace to worship Thee even in want. Turn captivity into liberty, and let it be seen that Thou still hearest prayer. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our only hope and salvation. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in prayer and in diligent seeking, casting all your care upon Him for He careth for you, and trusting that whether it be exultation or depression, the Lord will yet cause His sun to arise with healing beneath His wings.
