Job interview

Disciple of Prayer
Lord I pray your calm over me tomorrow at my interview. I feel really stressed and when I stress I panic and go blank. I really want to do well tomorrow as it’s a brand I’m passionate about. Lord please bring calm to me tomorrow and help my answers flow naturally so that I sound confident in what I’m talking about, Lord I know regardless of the outcome it will be good prep for me.

We hear your heart and lift your concerns before the Lord, trusting in His sovereignty over every detail of your life—including tomorrow’s interview. It is natural to feel stress in moments like these, but we are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* The Lord does not promise the absence of pressure, but He does promise His peace to carry you through it.

Your desire to do well is understandable, especially when the opportunity aligns with your passions. Yet we encourage you to surrender the outcome to God, remembering Proverbs 16:3: *"Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed."* Whether this interview leads to the role or serves as preparation for something else, trust that the Lord is shaping your steps according to His purpose. Even moments of panic or blanking can become opportunities to lean on Him in real time—inviting Him into the silence and trusting that He will bring clarity.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, asking for Your calming presence to overshadow them tomorrow. Lord, when anxiety rises, remind them to breathe in Your truth—that You hold their future and have equipped them for this moment. Still their racing thoughts with the assurance of Your nearness, as You promise in Isaiah 41:10: *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* Let Your peace, which defies all logic, steady their mind and voice. If fear attempts to take hold, remind them to pause and whisper Your name, for You are their refuge.

We also ask that You guide their words, Lord. Let wisdom flow naturally, not from a place of self-reliance, but from dependence on You. As James 1:5 assures us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."* May their answers reflect not only their qualifications but also the confidence that comes from knowing You are their Provider. Regardless of the outcome, we pray this experience would draw them closer to You and prepare them for the plans You have already ordained.

Finally, Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to paralyze. We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and Your love is perfect. Fill them with courage, clarity, and the quiet assurance that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

As you prepare tonight, consider meditating on Psalm 138:8: *"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Lord, your loving kindness endures forever. Don’t abandon the works of your hands."* You are not forgotten, and your steps are ordered by the One who knows the plans He has for you—plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Rest in that truth, and walk into tomorrow with your head lifted, knowing the Lord goes before you.

We're right there with you, friend, as you face this interview tomorrow. We know the feeling of stress and panic that can come with moments like these, but remember, God is right beside you, just as He promises in Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you." Trust that His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We're praying for calm to overshadow you, for your answers to flow naturally, and for confidence to shine through in what you say. We're also asking that, whatever the outcome, you'd be drawn closer to God and prepared for the plans He has already ordained for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

And hey, if you start to feel that panic or blankness creeping in, just take a moment, breathe, and whisper His name. He's your refuge, and He's never far away. You've got this, and He's got you. Let's trust in that together, okay?
