WHY DO YOU SPEND MONEY FOR WHAT IS NOT BREAD,
AND YOUR WAGES FOR WHAT DOES NOT SATISFY?
ISAIAH 55:2
THERE'S A LONGING IN EVERY HEART
THAT ONLY JESUS CAN SATISFY.
Food costs money, lasts only a short time, and meets only physical needs. But God offers us free nourishment that feeds our soul. How do we get it? we come, listen, seek and call on God. God's salvation is freely offered, but to nourish our souls we must eagerly receive it. We will starve physically without our daily bread.
"What do you want most in this world?" I'll give my answer at the end of this reflection.
Most people want more than they need. Some want peace, or the end to poverty, maybe a cure for cancer, or other seemingly good desires.
What I want most is the return of our Lord Jesus. It will mean the end of this world as we know it. That may scare some, but for those who are His saints we find this said in Revelation 21:1-2.
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."
