Jesus did not say pray for the sick when He released the disciples, but, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give" (Matt 10:8).
He also said, "lay hands on the sick and they shall recover" (Mark 16:17-18). 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark 16:17-18). Take time out of the equation, that is God's part -- He said "lay hands on the sick and they shall recover."
Q. Are we believing this and laying hands on the sick or asking for something God already said for us to do without doing what he said to do?
May we remember, "Healing is The children's Bread" (Matt 15:26-28); one of the benefits of the The LORD in Psalm 103:2-5
2 "Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
3 Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
5 Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle."
The Faith of the Canaanite Woman
26 But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes, Lord, she said, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 “O woman,” Jesus answered, “your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.…
Jesus knew Psalm 103 was part of the covenant blessings of the children of Israel, and the faith of a Gentile could tap into it, even before His death, resurrection and sending back His Victorious Holy Spirit. The blessings of Abraham now have come upon the Gentiles through faith -- and healing (forgiveness, length of days) now belong to all who believe for them.
But the way He commanded us to bestow healing from what He did is "the laying on of hands" -- let's lay hands on the sick in Jesus' Name and watch an increase in healings occur out of obedience...
May we return to faith and obedience to the Written Word of God, and "The Foundational Doctrine of The Laying on of Hands" as the brilliant writer of Hebrews says, (Heb 6:1-2) in Jesus' Name...
A Call to Maturity
Heb 6:1 "Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment."
