Jesus, please help me

3rd day of fasting below 50 calories to stay in ketosis. My goal is 40 days. I have some depression about my ability to learn. I had written from the Bible that a sanctified person is able to do all kinds of work. I am sad or pessimistic about learning. I think I won't be able to learn or I won't be able to have the time to learn. I'm sticking to writing the Bible because of promises of liberality and freedom. During my schooling, I had a really easy time in school. I didn't try for the more difficult classes. Recently, I've tried to learn from college textbooks, and I find it time consuming and difficult. I'm afraid I won't be able to memorize. I hope the LORD continues to give me the motivation and diligence to study the Bible. Sometimes I feel very bored, or I feel like the good news isn't applied to me. I'm slightly bothered by the scripture because I'm not making the ark of the covenant, and I'm not helping Jesus people in prison or homeless, and I'm not doing animal sacrifices. I had thoughts about learning programming and learning Japanese and I don't know what to do. I don't know what to focus on other than the Bible. I don't really have friends, and am not really open with socializing with others. I'm almost done writing the book of Exodus. I don't know what to do about my future, I feel lost and I feel disturbed by covetousness. I think I won't become a right fit for the job. I think I won't be able to become a professional. I'm not confident in my ability to master. I don't know what to do for my future. Thanks, Jesus, for peace, providence, and progress in Jesus' name, Amen.

We hear your heart, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting every concern to the Lord. First, we want to commend your commitment to fasting and seeking God’s face—this is a powerful act of devotion. Fasting is not just about physical discipline but about drawing nearer to God, and we believe He is honoring your sacrifice. However, we must gently remind you that while fasting is biblical, it should never come at the expense of your health. Jesus Himself taught that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we must care for them wisely. Ketosis is not a biblical requirement, and we encourage you to seek balance, ensuring you are nourished enough to serve the Lord with strength.

Your struggle with doubt and pessimism about learning is something many believers face, but we must rebuke the spirit of fear and unbelief that whispers lies about your abilities. The scripture you referenced is Exodus 31:3-5, where God filled Bezalel with the Spirit, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge for all kinds of work. This is a promise for you too! God does not call the equipped; He equips the called. If He has placed a desire in your heart to learn—whether programming, Japanese, or any other skill—He will provide the time, ability, and resources. But we must also challenge you: are you seeking these skills for God’s glory or your own? Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed." Surrender your ambitions to Him, and trust that He will direct your steps.

Your focus on writing out the Bible is commendable, but we must address the legalistic mindset that seems to be creeping in. You mentioned feeling bothered because you’re not building the ark of the covenant, helping prisoners, or offering animal sacrifices. Beloved, we are no longer under the old covenant of laws and sacrifices—Jesus fulfilled it all on the cross! Hebrews 10:14 tells us, "For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified." You are not saved by works but by grace through faith in Christ. The pressure you feel to "do enough" is not from God. Rest in His finished work, and let your service flow from a heart of love, not obligation.

The boredom and disconnection you feel from the Gospel are red flags that the enemy is trying to steal your joy. When you say the "good news isn’t applied to me," we must rebuke that lie in Jesus’ name! The Gospel is for *you*—it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). If you feel distant from God, it’s not because He has moved but because something is hindering your fellowship. Confess any sin, renew your mind in the Word, and spend time in worship and prayer. Psalm 34:18 assures us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a contrite spirit." Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you.

Your loneliness and lack of social connection are areas where we must encourage you to step out in faith. Proverbs 18:24 says, "A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." That friend is Jesus, but He also calls us into community. Pray for God to open doors for godly friendships—perhaps through a local church, Bible study, or even online Christian groups. Isolation can breed discouragement, but iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). You are not meant to walk this journey alone.

Now, let’s address your fears about the future. Covetousness and comparison are thieves of contentment. Jesus warned, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses" (Luke 12:15). Your worth is not in your career, skills, or productivity—it is in Christ alone. If you are feeling lost, ask God to reveal His purpose for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Trust that He has a plan, even if it’s not clear yet.

As for your doubts about becoming a professional or mastering a skill, we must remind you that God is the one who gives wisdom and understanding. James 1:5 says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." If He has placed a desire in your heart to learn, He will provide the means. But we must also caution you: are you seeking excellence for His glory or your own? Colossians 3:23-24 says, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting up every fear, doubt, and burden to You. Lord, we thank You for his heart of devotion and his desire to seek You through fasting and Your Word. We ask that You would strengthen him physically, emotionally, and spiritually during this time. Sustain him, Lord, and remind him that his worth is found in You alone.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and unbelief that has been whispering lies about his abilities. Father, fill him with Your Spirit of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, just as You did for Bezalel. Help him to trust in Your timing and Your plans for his future. Remove any legalistic thoughts that make him feel he must earn Your love or approval. Remind him that he is saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, not by works.

Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of loneliness and isolation in his life. Open doors for godly friendships and community, and give him the courage to step out in faith. Help him to find his identity in You, not in his career or achievements. Guard his heart against covetousness and comparison, and fill him with contentment in Your provision.

Father, we pray for clarity and direction for his future. If there are skills or areas of learning You want him to pursue, make it clear to him. Give him the motivation, diligence, and joy in studying Your Word and any other areas You call him to. Help him to see the Gospel as his greatest treasure and to apply its truth to his life daily.

We declare over him that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). We pray that he would walk in the freedom and liberty that Christ has purchased for him. Renew his mind, Lord, and let him see himself as You see him—beloved, chosen, and equipped for every good work.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, we encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God. Write them down, meditate on them, and speak them over your life. You are not defined by your past, your struggles, or your fears—you are defined by Christ. Keep pressing into Him, and He will lead you into all truth and purpose. If you ever feel overwhelmed, reach out to a trusted believer or pastor for support. You are not alone in this journey.

Hey there,

We're right there with you, standing in faith for your fasting journey. It's amazing to see your commitment to drawing near to God through this discipline. Remember, fasting is about more than just physical sacrifice; it's about creating space for God's voice and presence in your life. We're cheering you on, and we believe God is honored by your dedication.

We want to encourage you to keep your health in mind, though. While ketosis can be a helpful tool, it's not a biblical requirement. Make sure you're nourishing your body enough to serve God with strength. He wants you to be healthy and whole, so listen to your body and adjust as needed.

We hear your struggle with doubt and pessimism about learning. It's okay to not have all the answers right now. God is the one who equips us, and He promises to give us wisdom when we ask (James 1:5). Trust that if He's placed a desire in your heart to learn, He'll provide the means and the timing. But let's also ask ourselves, are we seeking these skills for God's glory or our own? Surrender your plans to Him and trust that He'll direct your steps (Proverbs 16:3).

Your focus on writing out the Bible is commendable, but let's be careful not to fall into a legalistic mindset. The old covenant of laws and sacrifices has been fulfilled by Jesus. You're not saved by works but by grace through faith in Christ. Rest in His finished work, and let your service flow from a heart of love, not obligation.

We also want to address the boredom and disconnection you're feeling from the Gospel. The enemy wants to steal your joy, but the Gospel is for you! It's the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). If you feel distant from God, it's not because He's moved but because something is hindering your fellowship. Confess any sin, renew your mind in the Word, and spend time in worship and prayer. Draw near to Him, and He'll draw near to you (James 4:8).

Lastly, we want to encourage you to step out in faith and build godly relationships. Pray for God to open doors for friendships, and remember that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). You're not meant to walk this journey alone.

Keep trusting in God's plan for your future. He has a purpose for you, even if it's not clear yet (Jeremiah 29:11). And remember, your worth is not in your career, skills, or productivity – it's in Christ alone.

Let's keep praying for you, believing that God will strengthen you physically, emotionally, and spiritually during this time. We declare over you that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37). Keep pressing into Him, and He'll lead you into all truth and purpose.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
