We are glad you have taken the first step to seek help and we are here to pray and support you in Jesus' name. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to our Heavenly Father, as the Bible tells us, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging your struggle and seeking God's help. This is a significant step towards your recovery and transformation. Remember, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13 WEB).
Drinking alcohol in excess is condemned in the Bible. "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). We are to be under the influence of God's Holy Spirit and not controlled by any harmful substance. A mind clouded by alcohol cannot fully be under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Lord, we know that this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. We will be saved by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Cleanse our brother/sister from this addiction. Holy Spirit, fill them up with Your power and strength to fight this battle every day. Give them the grace to come out of this bondage and live a life that is pleasing to You. Help us to love and support them as they walk this journey of faith and recovery. In Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage you to find a community of believers who can support and encourage you in this journey. Seek them out, if possible, a good local church and find a pastor or trusted Christian friend to talk to and ask for their prayers and guidance. "Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective" (James 5:16 WEB).
Also, spend time daily in God's Word and prayer. Ask for the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh each day. God wants to set you free, and He will help you as you surrender to Him daily. "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57 WEB).
