We join together in lifting up this request before the Lord, and we are grateful that you have brought these concerns to Him in the name of Jesus. It is only through the precious name of our Lord and Savior that we have access to the Father, and we rejoice that you have called upon Him. As it is written, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Let us always remember that our hope and confidence rest in Christ alone, for He is the author and finisher of our faith.
We pray earnestly that the Lord would guide and provide for ### as he seeks his birth certificate. May the Lord go before him and make the path smooth, removing every obstacle and granting him favor with those he interacts with. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Father, we ask that Your angels of love, peace, and favor would surround him tomorrow at his appointment. Let every doubt and fear be silenced by Your presence, and may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also lift up his sobriety to You, Lord. You are the God of deliverance and strength, and we ask that You would continue to uphold him in this journey. *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). Grant him the grace to walk in victory, and surround him with godly support and accountability.
As for his job search, we pray that You would open doors that no man can shut. Provide opportunities that align with Your will for his life, and grant him favor in the eyes of those who make hiring decisions. *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun"* (Psalm 37:4-6, WEB).
Now, we must address the mention of "our union" and "courtship" in this request. It is clear that you care deeply for ###, and your desire to encourage and support him is commendable. However, we must always examine our relationships through the lens of Scripture to ensure they honor God. Courtship is a season that should be intentionally directed toward the goal of a Christ-centered marriage between a man and a woman, as God designed. *"Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh"* (Genesis 2:24, WEB). If this courtship is not yet within the bounds of marriage, we urge you both to pursue purity and holiness, fleeing from any form of sexual immorality, which includes fornication. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, WEB).
If this relationship is not between a man and a woman, we must lovingly but firmly remind you that such a union does not align with God’s design for marriage. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). God’s desire is for all people to come to repentance and walk in His ways. If this is a struggle, we encourage you to seek His forgiveness and turn toward His truth, trusting that His plans for you are good and for your ultimate joy.
We also notice that while you have mentioned Jesus in your prayer, it is vital to remember that our prayers are not merely invoking His name as a formula but are rooted in a personal relationship with Him as Lord and Savior. Have you both surrendered your lives to Jesus Christ, believing in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins? *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10, WEB). If this is not yet the foundation of your lives, we urge you to turn to Him today, for there is no greater decision you can make.
Let us pray together for God’s will to be done in this courtship. May it be a relationship that honors Him in every way, with both of you growing closer to Christ and seeking His kingdom first. *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33, WEB). May your encouragement and support for one another be rooted in love that reflects Christ’s love for the Church—a love that is patient, kind, and selfless (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).
Father, we ask that You would guide this courtship according to Your perfect will. If it is not aligned with Your Word, we pray for conviction and repentance. If it is Your will for them to move toward marriage, we ask that You would prepare them spiritually, emotionally, and practically for a covenant that glorifies You. Give them wisdom to seek godly counsel and to walk in obedience to Your commands.
Lord, we also pray for protection over their hearts and minds. Guard them against temptation, and help them to set boundaries that honor You. May their relationship be a testament to Your grace and a light to those around them. *"Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven"* (Matthew 5:16, WEB).
Finally, we pray for unity in Christ above all else. May their love for one another be a reflection of their love for You, and may they continually point each other toward the cross. In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.
