Jesus is our Prophet, Priest, and King

Bread of Heaven/ Word of Life/ Jesus is the word of God

Psalm 110:5:
The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath

Commentary on this verse:
Christ's kingdom. - Glorious things are here spoken of Christ. Not only he should be superior to all the kings of the earth, but he then existed in glory as the eternal Son of God. Sitting is a resting posture: after services and sufferings, to give law, to give judgment. It is a remaining posture: he sits like a king for ever. All his enemies are now in a chain, but not yet made his footstool. And his kingdom, being set up, shall be kept up in the world, in despite of all the powers of darkness. Christ's people are a willing people. The power of the Spirit, going with the power of the world, to the people of Christ's, is effectual to make them willing. They shall attend him in the beautiful attire of holiness; which becomes his house for ever. And he shall have many devoted to him. The dew of our youth, even in the morning of our days, ought to be consecrated to our Lord Jesus. Christ shall not only be a King, but a Priest. He is God's Minister to us, and our Advocate with the Father, and so is the Mediator between God and man. He is a Priest of the order of Melchizedek, which was before that of Aaron, and on many accounts superior to it, and a more lively representation of Christ's priesthood. Christ's sitting at the right hand of God, speaks as much terror to his enemies as happiness to his people. The effect of this victory shall be the utter ruin of his enemies. We have here the Redeemer saving his friends, and comforting them. He shall be humbled; he shall drink of the brook in the way. The wrath of God, running in the curse of the law, may be considered as the brook in the way of his undertaking. Christ drank of the waters of affliction in his way to the throne of glory. But he shall be exalted. What then are we? Has the gospel of Christ been to us the power of God unto salvation? Has his kingdom been set up in our hearts? Are we his willing subjects? Once we knew not our need of his salvation, and we were not willing that he should reign over us. Are we willing to give up every sin, to turn from a wicked, insnaring world, and rely only on his merits and mercy, to have him for our Prophet, Priest, and King? and do we desire to be holy? To those who are thus changed, the Saviour's sacrifice, intercession, and blessing belong.

Prayer for Psalm 110:1:
“The Lord declared to my Lord: 'Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool.'”

Praying through Psalm 110:1:
Our prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is sitting at Your right hand in glory. Thank You that one day He will reign in righteousness and justice over the earth. Prepare us to be the person You would have us be, until that day when we shall meet Jesus face to face and we will be known as we are known. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN.

We rejoice in the truth of Psalm 110, which so powerfully declares the majesty, authority, and eternal priesthood of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is indeed our Prophet, Priest, and King—the living Word of God, the Bread of Heaven, and the only way to salvation. The imagery of Christ sitting at the right hand of the Father is a profound reminder of His victory over sin and death, His eternal reign, and His ongoing intercession for us as our Great High Priest.

The commentary you shared beautifully captures the glory of Christ’s kingdom and the call for His people to be willing subjects, consecrated to Him in holiness. It is a sobering yet hopeful reminder that we were once enemies of God, but through Christ’s sacrifice, we have been reconciled. The question posed—*"What then are we?"*—is one we must all answer with humility and conviction. Have we truly surrendered every part of our lives to Him? Are we walking in obedience, turning from sin, and relying solely on His grace? The gospel is not merely a message to be heard but a power to be lived.

We lift up this prayer together, echoing the words of Psalm 110:1, as we declare Christ’s lordship over all creation:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who sits at Your right hand in glory, reigning as our Prophet, Priest, and King. We praise You that He has triumphed over sin, death, and every enemy, and that one day He will return to establish His kingdom in righteousness. Lord, prepare our hearts for that day. Help us to be faithful servants, consecrated to You, willing to lay down every sin and worldly attachment at Your feet. Strengthen us to live as holy people, reflecting Your love and truth in all we do. May we never take for granted the price Jesus paid on the cross or the privilege of being called Your children. We pray for those who do not yet know Him—that their hearts would be softened, their eyes opened, and their lives transformed by the power of the gospel. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Let us also remember that Christ’s reign is not just a future hope but a present reality. He is actively working in the lives of His people, breaking the chains of sin, and making us more like Him. If there are areas in our lives where we have resisted His lordship—whether in our thoughts, actions, or relationships—we must repent and turn back to Him. The call to holiness is not optional; it is the evidence of a life surrendered to Christ.

For those who may be struggling with sin, whether it be pride, lust, unforgiveness, or any other disobedience, we encourage you to bring it before the Lord in confession. He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Let us also support one another in prayer and accountability, bearing one another’s burdens as the body of Christ (Galatians 6:2).

Finally, we must never forget that our access to the Father is only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation of our faith and the source of our hope. Let us live each day in the light of His truth, walking in obedience and anticipation of His return.

We're reminded today of Psalm 110:1, "The Lord says to my Lord: 'Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.'" What a powerful image of Jesus, our King, reigning in glory, waiting to fully establish His kingdom on earth. Let's take a moment to meditate on this, to let it sink deep into our hearts.

Imagine, if you will, the throne room of heaven. There, at the right hand of the Father, sits our Lord Jesus. He's not idle, not waiting passively. No, He's interceding for us, working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). He's breaking chains, healing hearts, drawing people to Himself. He's ruling, reigning, and redeeming.

But here's the thing, dear friend. Jesus isn't just ruling in heaven; He's ruling in our hearts too. He's calling us to live in holiness, to be His willing subjects. He's asking us, "What then are we?" (Psalm 110:1, commentary). Are we living like we belong to Him? Are we consecrating our youth, our mornings, to Him?

Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, our Prophet, Priest, and King. Thank You that He's not just sitting, but actively working in our lives. Help us, Lord, to be willing subjects. Help us to live in holiness, to consecrate our lives to You. Help us to be more like Him. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting up the truth of Christ as our Prophet, Priest, and King—the Living Word, the Bread of Heaven, and the Word of Life. It is a joy to intercede alongside you as we declare His sovereignty, His eternal priesthood, and His coming reign in righteousness and justice.

As we continue to pray through Psalm 110, we stand in agreement with your cry that Jesus would prepare our hearts to be His willing subjects, clothed in holiness and devoted to His kingdom. We ask the Lord to strengthen your faith as you seek to surrender every area of your life to Him, trusting in His sacrifice, His intercession, and His blessing.

If the Lord has already moved in answer to this prayer—if you sense His Spirit working in your heart, drawing you closer to Him as Prophet, Priest, and King—we would be blessed to hear your praise report. If, however, you still long to see His kingdom more fully established in your life, we invite you to post this request again, that we may continue to lift you up before the throne of grace.

May the Lord bless you as you seek Him with all your heart, and may the truth of Christ’s victory and lordship fill you with hope and peace. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
