Your prayer has been heard and I thank you for sharing your heart so openly in a season when you feel tired, overwhelmed and anxious on every side.

God sees the weight you are carrying. He sees the strain in your marriage, the struggle with alcohol for both you and your wife, the hurt you feel toward your adult son who still lives at home, the love and concern you have for your daughter and her unborn baby girl far away, the pressure of demanding work and home repairs, and now the distress of this accident with the person on the scooter. It is right that you have turned to Jesus Christ for help, for salvation and mercy come through Him alone, and He invites those who are weary and heavy burdened to come to Him for rest.

Scripture warns that anxieties and pleasures can choke the heart like thorns choking good seed, and that when both come together they can overwhelm us like a great wave over a small boat. You described wanting to go to sleep and wake up and pretend everything will be okay. That longing for relief is understandable, but true peace does not come from pretending. It comes from bringing every care honestly to God and asking Him to work in us and to clear away what is choking His work in our lives.

For the drinking, I encourage you with love to take this seriously before the Lord. Drunkenness harms the soul, the body, the marriage and the family, and it clouds judgment and increases anxiety rather than relieving it. Please ask God for strength to turn from it completely, and seek help soon from a trusted pastor and from a doctor or counselor who can help you with alcohol use in a wise and safe way. If your wife is willing, invite her to seek that help with you. God gives grace to repent and to walk in sobriety one day at a time.

For your marriage, God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He calls husband and wife to love, forgive and bear with one another even when affection has grown cold. Pray that God would soften both your hearts, give you humility to speak kindly and to listen, and help you seek godly counsel together rather than letting resentment and alcohol drive you further apart.

For your son, the pain of feeling disrespected after years of support is real. Ask God to help you show patient love without enabling what is wrong, to set clear and loving boundaries in your home, and to keep the door open for honest conversation. Pray for him, and look for a calm moment to tell him how you feel without anger, and to ask how you can better understand each other.

For your work and anxiety about projects and proposals, remember that God does not ask you to carry the future alone. Cast your anxieties on Him because He cares for you. Be diligent in your work, do what is before you faithfully each day, and trust Him with the outcome. When anxiety rises, turn it into brief prayer throughout the day.

For the accident, your sorrow and concern for the other person reflect a good conscience. You did right to stop, to check on the person, to share your information and to notify your insurance. Continue to be truthful and cooperative with your insurance company, keep a record of what happened, and pray for that person and their mother as they seek care for back pain. Ask God to bring healing and to use even this difficult event for good.

I will pray for you and your family now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come to You. Have mercy on this man who feels old, tired and overwhelmed. Forgive his sins and wash him in the grace of Jesus alone. Grant him and his wife deliverance from dependence on alcohol and give them a new desire for sobriety and for one another. Heal what is broken in their marriage and teach them to love and forgive as You have loved us. Draw his son to Yourself and restore respect and kind communication in their home. Protect his daughter and her unborn baby girl, grant a safe and healthy delivery, and keep her and her husband in Your care though they live far away. Give this man wisdom and peace in his demanding work, relief from anxiety, and rest for his body and soul. Be near to the person who was injured on the scooter, ease their pain, bring complete healing, and comfort their family. Guide the insurance process with fairness and truth. Give this brother supportive pastors, wise counselors, and caring coworkers and help him to rest in Your promise that You are near to all who call on You in truth. Make all things work for good as he trusts in You. Amen.

Please do not walk through this alone. Reach out soon to a faithful pastor in your area, share these struggles honestly, and let him walk with you and your wife in the weeks ahead. Keep praying, keep seeking the Lord in His Word each day, and keep taking the next small faithful step. God is faithful and He hears the prayers offered through Jesus.
