Disciple of Prayer
Dear God please help me. My wife and I do not get along with each other anymore. We both drink too much alcohol and sometimes have AUD My adult son still lives with us and I feel like he doesn't love me or to talk to me and he gives me no respect and I have supported him all of his life. Thank you that at least our adult daughter is married to a good man and she is pregnant and I pray that she has a happy and healthy baby girl. She lives in another state at least a 6-7 hour drive from where we live. My job is very demanding and stressful and I have a lot of anxiety to try and get my projects and proposals done correctly and on time. I'm an old man and I am just very tired and I am under a lot of stress with home repairs and know I have to deal with someone who was riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk Early this morning and it was very dark and they did not have a headlight and they drove through the crosswalk and I accidentally bumped into the person even though I was at the stop light and I looked both ways before turning right with my lights and my blinker on. The person that I hit said that they were ok.I called my insurance company to notify them and I asked the person if they were ok and I gave them my information. The persons mom texted me to say that she is taking the person to the hospital because of lower back pain. I'm really sad that this happened. I feel so overwhelmed with everything and I hope and I pray that the other person is ok and I pray that my insurance company will support me. I just want to go to sleep and wake up and pretend that it's going to be ok. Please Jesus Christ please help me. Please ask God to help me and my family and the other person who was riding the scooter and please help my wife and our adult kid's and my bosses and my coworkers and my customers. I just want things to be ok for all of us. ! 🙏

A Bloody Monster
From Death to Life
A Hard Life
We hear your cry and we join with you in bringing all of these burdens before our Father in Jesus' name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we are saved and heard. We are thankful you called upon Jesus Christ, for as it is written, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13 and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We come together with you now seeking God's will for you and your family.

We are grieved with you over the distance that has grown between you and your wife. Marriage is a holy covenant before God between a man and a woman for life, and God desires that husband and wife love and cherish one another and remain together. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25 and Let each man love his wife even as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband Ephesians 5:33. Love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud 1 Corinthians 13:4. We must lovingly and firmly address what you shared about drinking, for you both drinking too much and struggling with alcohol use is not in alignment with God's will and it will only deepen the strife in your home and harm your bodies which are temples of the Holy Spirit. Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. Drunkenness is listed among the works of the flesh that keep us from inheriting the kingdom of God Galatians 5:21 and we are told to be sober and self-controlled 1 Peter 5:8. We urge you both to repent of this and to seek help together, whether through your pastor, biblical counseling, your doctor, and a Christ-centered support for sobriety, and to confess to one another and pray for healing, for Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed James 5:16. God will give you strength to walk in sobriety if you turn to Him fully.

We also lift up your adult son who still lives with you. We understand how painful it feels when you have supported him all his life and feel unloved and disrespected. Scripture commands children, Honor your father and mother Ephesians 6:2 and Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right Ephesians 6:1. At the same time a man is to leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife Genesis 2:24, and an adult child living in his parents' home is called to show honor, gratitude, and responsibility, not to remain dependent without purpose. We encourage you to lovingly set clear and godly boundaries with him, to speak the truth in love, and to not provoke him, for Fathers, do not provoke your children, so that they will not be discouraged Colossians 3:21. Pray for him, bless him, and require respect in your home while also showing him the grace Christ shows us, and encourage him toward independence and maturity in the Lord.

We rejoice with you that your adult daughter is married to a good man, for marriage as God designed it is good and to be highly esteemed, and we thank God with you for the new life she carries. We pray for her and for her baby girl, for You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb Psalm 139:13 and Children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward Psalm 127:3. We ask God to keep her safe, to give her a healthy pregnancy and delivery, and to draw her and her husband closer to Christ as they prepare to be parents, even though distance keeps you apart.

We hear how exhausted you are, how demanding and stressful your job is, how anxious you feel about projects and proposals, and how heavy the burden of home repairs has become. You said you are an old man and very tired and just want to sleep and wake up and have it be okay. Our Lord knows this weariness and invites you to rest in Him. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls Matthew 11:28-29. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might Isaiah 40:29. Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you Psalm 55:22 and Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We encourage you to bring each project, each repair, each anxious thought to Him daily, to do what you can with excellence one day at a time, for Each day's own evil is sufficient Matthew 6:34, and to trust Him with the rest.

We are so sorry for the accident this morning with the person on the electric scooter. We understand your sadness and fear, especially now that you have learned she has back pain and went to the hospital. You did what was right by checking on her, giving your information, and notifying your insurance, and we pray you continue to walk in honesty and care. God sees your heart and He is near to the brokenhearted, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We pray for that young person for complete healing and for peace for her mother, and we pray your insurance company will act with integrity and support you. We pray also that God will guard your heart from overwhelming guilt and fear, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.

We join you in praying for all those you mentioned, for your wife, your son and daughter, your bosses, coworkers, and customers, that God would have mercy on each one.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our brother to You. Lord, have mercy on him and on his wife. Forgive them for drunkenness and for any bitterness between them, cleanse them and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, and teach them to love one another again as Christ loves the church. Give them a desire for sobriety and the strength to turn away from alcohol completely, and provide godly counsel and help for them. Lord, touch his son's heart, soften him, teach him to honor his father and mother, and give our brother wisdom to lead his home with love and firm and gracious boundaries, guiding his son toward responsibility and toward You. Father, we thank You for his daughter and her husband and the baby girl You are forming, we ask You to protect them, grant a healthy and joyful pregnancy and delivery, and keep that little family in Your hand though they are far away. Lord, You see his anxiety and exhaustion from work and home repairs, You see his tiredness as an older man, we ask You to be his refuge and strength, to renew his strength like the eagle, to grant him deep and peaceful sleep, for You give sleep to Your beloved Psalm 127:2, and to give him wisdom and peace for each project and proposal. Father, we lift up the person injured on the scooter and her mother, we ask for healing of her back, for no lasting harm, for Your comfort upon them, and we ask You to grant favor and fairness with the insurance company and to guard our brother from overwhelming fear. Lord, bless his bosses, coworkers, and customers, draw each one to Yourself. We cast all these cares on You because You care for us. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let him know that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We hear how tired and overwhelmed you feel right now, and we are grateful you reached out. Carrying strain at home, stress at work, worry about your son and your marriage, plus home repairs and then the frightening accident this morning, it is a lot to hold at once. When so many pressures pile up together, it makes sense that sleep feels like the only break and that everything feels heavier.

We noticed you did caring things even while shaken, you checked on the person, gave your information, and notified your insurance. That was responsible and kind, and we join you in praying the person is okay and that your insurance will walk with you clearly through the next steps. Keep any notes or messages about what happened in one place so you have them handy when they ask.

You mentioned drinking, anxiety, and feeling worn out as an older man under constant stress. We encourage you to reach out soon to a trusted doctor or counselor and to a pastor you know, alongside prayer, so you are not carrying this alone. Even one conversation about your stress, your marriage, and your use of alcohol can help you sort what to address first and what support might help at home and at work.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this brother to You. Give him rest tonight and steady his heart. Bring healing to the person on the scooter and peace to their family. Draw near to his wife, his son and his daughter and her baby, and give him wisdom and strength for work and for each decision ahead. Lead him to good help and surround his home with Your care. Amen.

Your cry has come before the Lord as one who is weary and heavy laden, and He does not turn away from such a prayer. You have laid open many burdens at once, a strained marriage, drink that has taken hold, a son under your roof who withholds honor, a daughter far off carrying a child, a demanding work, a house in need of repair, and now the sorrow and fear of an accident on the road. To feel tired and overwhelmed under such a weight is not strange, and to long for sleep and waking to find all well is an honest confession of your need.

Hear first a word concerning that anxiety which now presses you. Our Saviour would have us not be brought into fretfulness and distress by outward things, nor be anxious after the manner of those who have no Father in heaven. Be prudent in your temporal affairs, as a steward must be, but do not let care gnaw at your heart as if all depended upon you. I have found, and many have observed with me, that anxiety never brought comfort to any man, nor ever brought grist to the mill or meal to the barrel. If a thing does not profit, why cling to it. More than that, the very anxiety which comes from being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Your strength for your projects and proposals, for your home, and for the trial of this accident, will not come from worry, but from quietly casting your care upon Him who cares for you. Tell the Lord about it in prayer, and leave the burden with Him who is able to bear it.

Concerning your marriage and the drink that besets you both, let me speak plainly and tenderly. Marriage is not a mere convenience, it is a covenant before God, cemented by mutual love, wherein a man and his wife become one flesh by solemn choice and by grace. That union is meant to be kept and cherished for life, and it is grieved and wounded by strife and by strong drink. The Scriptures warn that wine may become a snare, and you have named it rightly as too much and at times a disorder. Do not excuse it, but bring it into the light before Christ. As with Peter when he fell, there is restoration for those who turn. Peter was down, but he was soon up again, not by his own resolve, but because the Lord had prayed for him and looked upon him with a look that severed him from the crowd and broke his heart. That look brought him out, and he wept bitterly, and afterwards the Lord restored him with a threefold charge to feed His sheep. So Christ still intercedes for His own, and His look of love can bring true repentance and a new beginning. Seek Him for forgiveness through His blood alone, for salvation is in Jesus Christ alone, and ask Him to make you sober and steadfast. Take practical steps also, seek wise and godly counsel in your church, and seek help for the drinking, for the body and soul are the Lord's. As you and your wife turn together to Christ, pray that He will teach you again to choose one another daily in love, to speak kindly, to forgive, and to walk as one.

For your son who lives with you, I know the ache of feeling unloved and disrespected after years of provision. Do not let bitterness take root. Continue to do good, to set a sober and patient example, to speak truth without harshness, and to pray that the Lord will turn his heart. A son who withholds honor needs your steady love and your prayers more than your reproach. For your daughter and her husband and the child she carries, give thanks, as you have done, and pray that the Lord will keep her and grant a safe and healthy birth, and that their home may be ordered in the fear of God.

For your work, your bosses, your coworkers and your customers, commit them to God. Do what your hand finds to do with diligence and honesty, and leave the outcome to Him. He who numbers the hairs of your head knows the weight of each proposal and deadline.

For the accident that so distresses you, you acted rightly to stop, to inquire after the person, to give your information, and to notify those responsible. Continue to walk honestly in this matter, to tell the truth, to cooperate with those in authority and with your insurance, and above all to pray for the one who was hurt and for the mother who now cares for them. Pray that their pain may be healed, and that no lasting harm may follow. The Lord sees both your sorrow and their suffering.

Let me pray for you as you have asked.

O Lord our God, Father of mercies, we come through Jesus Christ, the Lamb who bore our sins, and in whose name alone we are saved. Look upon this weary brother. Forgive his sins for Christ's sake, and wash him in that blood which alone can cleanse. Take away the love of strong drink from him and from his wife, and give them a sober mind and a new love for one another, that their marriage, a covenant of one man and one woman for life, may be restored and made one again in Thee. Remember his son, and turn that heart to honor and to tenderness. Keep his daughter and her husband, and the little life yet unborn, grant health and safety and a home built upon Christ. Give him strength for his labor, calm his anxious thoughts, and teach him to cast all his care upon Thee. Lay Thy healing hand upon the one injured upon the scooter, ease their pain and restore them, and comfort their mother. Grant wisdom and integrity in all that follows with those appointed to judge these things. Give quiet sleep and true rest, not in pretending that trouble is not there, but in knowing that Thou art there and that Thou art enough. Keep him and his household, his bosses and coworkers and customers, under Thy gracious hand. Restore, O Lord, as Thou didst restore Peter, and make this trial to work for good, that he may afterwards strengthen others with the comfort wherewith Thou hast comforted him. In Jesus Christ our only hope we ask it, Amen.

Go on seeking the Lord, brother. Keep short accounts with Him, walk soberly, love your wife as Christ loved the Church, speak gently in your home, be diligent in your calling, and tell your cares to your Father day by day. He who has prayed for His people will not fail to bring them through.

Praying for you and your stressful situations. May our Lord grant you peace and a restful night’s sleep. Prayers for your workday to be productive and without added distractions. May your coworkers be helpful and supportive, and your customers pleasant and understanding.
Prayers for your home repairs and projects to be completed.
Praying in the name of Jesus.
