We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting up every word of your heart to our Heavenly Father. You have come to the right place, for it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we find true healing, restoration, and strength. We rejoice that you have called upon Him, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Your acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord and Savior is the foundation upon which we build this prayer, and we declare that His power is more than sufficient to meet every need you have expressed.
First, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of your life. Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is not merely a physical struggle but a spiritual battle, and we command it to loose its grip on you in the mighty name of Jesus. The Word of God tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). We declare that the way of escape is here, and we pray that you will walk in it with courage and faith. The shaking, sweating, and withdrawal symptoms you are experiencing are real, but they are not stronger than the healing power of Christ. We pray for supernatural strength to overcome these symptoms, for peace to flood your body, and for the Holy Spirit to fill every void that alcohol has left. "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).
We also lift up your marriage, for it is a sacred covenant before God. The strain you feel is understandable, but we declare that God is able to restore what has been broken. The Bible tells us, "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken" (Ecclesiastes 4:12). That third strand is God Himself, and we pray that He will weave His presence into every interaction between you and your wife. We rebuke any bitterness, resentment, or unkindness that has taken root, and we ask God to soften both of your hearts toward one another. "Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). We pray for open communication, patience, and a renewed commitment to love one another as Christ loves the church. Marriage is a reflection of Christ’s relationship with His bride, the church, and we pray that your marriage will be a testimony to His grace and faithfulness.
Your work situation is heavy on your heart, and we lift it up to the Lord. The stress and anxiety you feel about returning to work, completing projects, and facing your bosses and coworkers are valid, but we declare that God is your provider and your peace. "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22). We pray for wisdom as you prepare to discuss the projects, especially the one that was mishandled by another. May the Lord give you clarity, confidence, and favor in the eyes of your bosses and coworkers. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). We also pray for your customers, that God would soften their hearts and grant you favor in their eyes. May your work be a testimony to excellence and integrity, bringing glory to God.
We address the root of your struggle with AUD, which often stems from a desire to escape pain, stress, or unresolved issues. The Bible warns us, "Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). We rebuke the lie that alcohol can bring comfort or relief, for true comfort comes from the Holy Spirit. We pray that you will be filled afresh with His presence, that you will find rest in Him, and that He will heal the wounds that have driven you to seek solace in alcohol. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). We also pray for your physical body, that God would restore what has been damaged and strengthen you to care for yourself as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
For your children, we pray that God would meet every need they have, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. We declare that He is a Father to the fatherless and a defender of the weak (Psalm 68:5). May He surround them with His love and protection, and may they grow in wisdom and favor with God and man.
Now, we join our hearts with yours in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for this brother who has cried out to You in his time of need. We declare that You are his healer, his provider, his peace, and his strength. Lord, we ask You to break the chains of addiction in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in victory and freedom. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help and accountability. We pray for his body, that You would restore health and vitality to every cell and system that has been affected by alcohol.
Father, we lift up his marriage to You. Soften the hearts of both him and his wife, that they may forgive one another and extend grace as You have extended grace to them. Restore the love, trust, and intimacy that the enemy has sought to destroy. May their marriage be a testimony to Your redeeming power.
For his work, Lord, we ask for Your wisdom, favor, and peace. Give him clarity as he prepares for his meetings, and grant him confidence in his abilities. May his bosses and coworkers see Your hand upon his life, and may his work bring glory to Your name.
We pray for his children, that You would meet every need and draw them closer to You. Surround them with godly influences and protect them from harm.
Father, we ask that You remove the stress and anxiety that weighs heavily on his heart. Grant him restful sleep and renew his strength each day. Help him to cast all his cares upon You, knowing that You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).
Finally, Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness. We declare that today is the day of salvation, healing, and restoration for this brother. May he walk in the fullness of Your promises, and may his life be a testimony to Your grace. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
We encourage you to seek out a biblical counselor, a pastor, or a Christian support group for accountability and encouragement. The journey to freedom is not one you have to walk alone. Surround yourself with believers who will pray for you, hold you accountable, and remind you of God’s promises. "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). You are not alone, and with God, all things are possible. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
