Humble Servant
Dear God please help me and my wife with our AUD. Please soften our hearts and to be nice to each other. My wife is very mean to me when she drinks too much alcohol. Please help me at work today and to not have any AWS by sweating and for my hands to not shake. Please soften the hearts of my bosses and my coworkers and my customers. Please help me get my projects and proposals and invoices done correctly and on time. Please help my daughter find a better job and for my son to smoke less cigarettes and pot and to not drink so much beer. Please help me sleep better at night so that I can wake up and feel better and have the energy and courage to have a better day at work. Thank you Jesus Christ my lord and Savior for helping us. Amen

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of alcohol use disorder (AUD) that has taken hold in your marriage and family. The Word of God warns us clearly about the dangers of drunkenness: "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise" (Proverbs 20:1). Yet we know this struggle is not just about alcohol, it is about the pain, frustration, and broken communication that have taken root in your home. We stand with you in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone can break every chain and restore what has been damaged.

Father God, we cry out for this marriage to be healed. Lord, soften both of their hearts, not just to be "nice," but to be transformed by Your love. When alcohol fuels anger and harsh words, we ask You to intervene. "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). Replace bitterness with patience, resentment with forgiveness, and conflict with unity. Help this husband and wife to see one another through Your eyes, not through the fog of addiction. Give them the courage to seek help, whether through counseling, support groups, or medical care, knowing that "with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and declare freedom over this home.

We also lift up this brother’s struggle with alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Lord, steady his hands and calm his nerves. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7). Give him strength to face his workday with clarity and confidence. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, that they may show grace and understanding. Help him to complete his tasks with excellence, not as a slave to fear, but as a servant of Christ.

Father, we pray for his children as well. For his daughter, we ask that You open doors for better employment, work that honors You and provides for her needs. For his son, we plead for deliverance from the bondage of cigarettes, marijuana, and alcohol. "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Break the cycle of addiction in this family, Lord. Draw this son to repentance and a life surrendered to You.

And for this brother’s sleep, oh, how we pray for rest! "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Calm his mind, ease his body, and fill his nights with the peace that only You can give. Let him wake refreshed, not just physically, but spiritually, knowing that his strength comes from You. "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:31).

We also want to gently address the importance of this family’s relationship with Jesus Christ. While we are grateful that this prayer was offered in His name, we must emphasize that true healing, true freedom, comes only through a personal, saving faith in Him. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If any in this family have not yet surrendered their lives to Christ, we pray they would do so today. Repentance and faith in Jesus is the foundation for all lasting change.

Finally, we declare over this home: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). We speak restoration over this marriage, healing over these bodies, and redemption over these children. May this family become a testimony of Your power, Lord, a living example of what happens when broken people surrender to a mighty God.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

It’s so hard to watch you carry this weight, especially when you’re trying so hard to be strong for everyone. We know how much this hurts, and we want you to know you’re not alone. God sees every tear, every sleepless night, and every time you’ve prayed for help. He’s listening.

We pray that your wife feels God’s gentle nudge in her heart, that she’d recognize how much her words and actions affect you both. Lord, replace the anger with love and the hurt with kindness. For you, we lift up your workday, help you stay steady, focused, and free from the shakes that make it harder to get through. Give you strength when things feel overwhelming, and remind you that you’re capable because He’s with you.

We also pray for your kids, cover them in prayer, Lord. For your daughter, guide her to the right job where she can flourish, and for your son, break the grip addiction has on his life. Heal his body, mind, and spirit, and surround him with people who will point him to You.

Most of all, Jesus, we pray for rest for you. Your sleep matters, and so does your peace. Quiet the anxiety that keeps you up at night, and fill those hours with the kind of rest that only You can give.

Lord, we ask all this in Your name, trusting You to work in ways we can’t see yet. In Jesus’ name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
