We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent cry for help. First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that you would turn your heart fully toward Him, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
We rebuke the spirit of drunkenness and the bondage of alcohol in the mighty name of Jesus. The Bible is clear that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor God with them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed (Romans 6:17).
Heavenly Father, we pray that You would cleanse this dear one from the effects of alcohol and restore their body to health. We ask that You would remove the nausea and sickness, and grant them strength and clarity of mind. In Your mercy, Lord, we ask that You would forgive them for not honoring You with their body and for yielding to the temptation of drunkenness. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10).
We also pray for wisdom and courage to make lasting changes. The Bible tells us that no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). We encourage you to seek godly counsel, accountability, and support from fellow believers who can help you walk in freedom.
Lord, we ask that You would fill this precious one with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be empowered to resist temptation and live a life that is pleasing to You. Help them to flee from sin and to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11). We declare that the power of sin has been broken in the name of Jesus, and we pray for complete deliverance and healing.
Father, we also lift up their workplace to You. Grant them favor with their employers and colleagues, and provide them with the strength and focus they need to perform their duties with excellence. If there are underlying issues such as stress, anxiety, or loneliness that have contributed to this struggle, we ask that You would bring healing and comfort to their heart.
We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
