Dear God please help me stop drinking alcohol and smoking pot after today. Please help me get back to work next week on Monday morning. Please soften the hearts of my bosses and my wife and my coworkers and my customers and please help me support our adult kids. I hope you can forgive me for my AUD and my weakness. Please help me and please help my wife and our adult kids. Sorry for being drunk again I'm going down stairs one more time to make another drink and smoke another bowl upstairs in my bed as I look out my window pretending that everything is going to be ok. I hope that my wife and I can be nice to each other tonight! Amen

We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up your struggles to the Lord. You have taken the first step by reaching out to God, and we stand with you in prayer, believing that He is faithful to hear and answer. The battle you are facing is not just against alcohol and marijuana, but against the spiritual forces that seek to enslave and destroy. The Word of God tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not alone in this fight, and God has already provided a way out—His name is Jesus Christ.

First, we must address the urgency of your situation. You mentioned going downstairs to make another drink and smoke again, even as you pray for deliverance. This is a dangerous cycle, and we must rebuke the spirit of addiction that is seeking to keep you bound. The Bible warns us, "Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Drunkenness and drug use are not just bad habits—they are sin, and they separate us from God. But there is hope! The very next verse says, "Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11). Jesus has already paid the price for your freedom, and He is calling you to walk in it.

We also want to address your relationship with your wife. The tension and strain in your marriage are evident, and we pray for healing and restoration. The Bible tells us, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25). Your role as a husband is to love, cherish, and lead your wife in a way that honors God. This begins with repentance and turning away from the things that are harming your marriage. We rebuke the spirit of strife and division that has crept into your home, and we pray for unity, peace, and godly love to reign. Your wife needs to see a change in you, not just words, but a transformed life through the power of Christ.

Your concern for your adult children is also heavy on your heart, and we lift them up to the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Though they are adults, your influence and example still matter. We pray that they would see the work God is doing in your life and be drawn to Him. We also pray for their own walks with the Lord, that they would be protected from the snares of the enemy and walk in the purpose God has for them.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name. We lift up this brother who is crying out for deliverance from the bondage of alcohol and marijuana. Lord, You see his heart, and You know the depths of his struggle. We ask that You break every chain of addiction in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and give him the strength to resist temptation. Help him to walk in the freedom that Christ has already purchased for him. We rebuke the spirit of addiction, and we command it to leave in Jesus’ name. Lord, give him the courage to take the next step, whether that is seeking accountability, counseling, or medical help. You are the Great Physician, and we trust You to heal him completely.

Father, we also pray for his marriage. Soften the heart of his wife and help her to see the changes You are making in him. Restore trust, love, and communication in their relationship. Let their home be a place of peace and joy, where Your presence dwells. We pray for their adult children, that they would be drawn closer to You and to their family. Protect them from the enemy’s lies and guide them in Your truth.

Lord, we ask that You open the doors for him to return to work next week. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, and give him favor in their eyes. Provide for all his financial needs and help him to be a light in his workplace. Let his testimony of Your deliverance shine brightly so that others may come to know You.

Father, we thank You that You are a God of second chances. We ask that You forgive him for his past mistakes and help him to forgive himself. Remind him daily of Your love and grace. Give him a fresh start and a new beginning. Help him to walk in obedience to Your Word and to live a life that honors You.

We declare that this is a new day, and we speak victory over his life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

You are not alone in this battle. The Lord is with you, and so are we. We encourage you to seek out a biblical, Christ-centered support group or counselor who can walk alongside you in this journey. Accountability is key, and having brothers and sisters in Christ to pray with you and encourage you will make a world of difference. The road to freedom is not easy, but it is worth it. Remember, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will lead you to victory.

We're here with you, brother. We understand the struggle is real, but so is the power of Jesus in your life. We're not going to sugarcoat it, the road to freedom from alcohol and marijuana is tough, but it's not impossible. We've seen it time and time again, people just like you, breaking free and living a life beyond their wildest dreams.

First things first, we need you to make a choice. Right now. You're at a crossroads. You can either go downstairs and make that drink, or you can stand firm in your faith and say, "No more." We're not here to judge, but to remind you that God has given you the power to choose. And we're choosing to believe in you.

We also want to encourage you in your marriage. We know it's been tough, but remember, love covers a multitude of sins. Your wife needs to see a change in you, not just hear about it. So, let's start by you taking responsibility for your actions and asking God for forgiveness. Then, ask your wife for forgiveness too. It won't be easy, but it's the first step towards healing.

And let's not forget your kids. They need to see their dad standing strong and living a life that honors God. They need to know that even though you've made mistakes, you're committed to getting back on track and being the father God has called you to be.

We're going to keep praying for you. We're going to pray that God gives you the strength to resist temptation, that He heals your marriage, and that He guides your steps back to work next week. We're also going to pray for your kids, that they would see the change in you and be drawn to God.

But here's the thing, brother. Prayer is powerful, but it's not a magic wand. You've got to do your part too. You've got to make that choice, every single day, to turn away from alcohol and marijuana. You've got to seek help, whether that's through a support group, counseling, or medical help. You've got to be accountable to someone, and you've got to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

Remember, God is a God of second chances. He's not keeping a record of your wrongs. He's forgiven you, and He's ready to give you a fresh start. So, let's make today the day you choose freedom. Let's make today the day you decide to live a life that honors God.

You're not alone in this. We're here with you, every step of the way. And so is God. Trust Him. He's got this. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
