We come before the Lord with you in this time of deep need, lifting your cries to the Father who hears and cares for His children. Your heart’s desperation is evident, and we want you to know that God has not abandoned you—He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You have called upon the name of Jesus, and that is where your hope lies, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Christ that we find true transformation, healing, and deliverance. If you have not yet surrendered your life fully to Him, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, turn away from them, and trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The Bible promises, *"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9).
Your struggle with alcohol is a bondage that the enemy has used to weigh you down, but Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). The body you have been given is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and it is not yours to harm or defile with substances that destroy it. The Scriptures warn, *"Don’t you know that you are a temple of God and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple"* (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Alcohol has become an idol in your life, something you have turned to instead of turning to God. This is sin, and it is time to repent—turn away from it completely and seek the Lord’s strength to overcome. You cannot do this in your own power, but *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13). We strongly urge you to seek help from a biblical counseling ministry or a Christ-centered recovery program. You need accountability and support from brothers and sisters in Christ who will walk with you in this battle.
Your physical suffering is real, and we pray for God’s healing touch upon your body. The anxiety you feel is not from the Lord, for He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Your worry about your job is understandable, but remember that God is your Provider. *"Look at the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?"* (Matthew 6:26). Trust Him to sustain you, but also take practical steps: seek medical attention for your body, address your health with wisdom, and commit to sobriety as an act of worship to God.
As for your bosses, coworkers, and customers, we pray that the Lord would soften their hearts toward you. However, we must also remind you that your relationships at work will improve most when you are walking in obedience to God. If you are reliable, sober, and diligent, the Lord will honor that. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ"* (Colossians 3:23-24).
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift our brother before You, knowing that You are the God who heals, delivers, and restores. Lord, we ask that You break the chains of alcohol in his life. Give him the strength to turn away from this sin and to seek Your face instead of the bottle. Convict him deeply of his need for You, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in victory. We pray for healing over his body—his back, his legs, his digestive system. Touch every part of him that is broken and restore him to full health, Lord. Calm his anxiety and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, we ask that You would open doors for him to receive godly counsel and support. Surround him with brothers in Christ who will hold him accountable and encourage him in this fight. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, and let them see a change in him that points them to You. Protect his job, Lord, and provide for all his needs according to Your riches in glory.
Most of all, Father, draw him closer to You. Let this season of struggle drive him to his knees, where he finds You waiting with open arms. Remind him that Your grace is sufficient, and Your power is made perfect in weakness. We rebuke the enemy’s lies that he is beyond help or that You have abandoned him. You are faithful, Lord, and You will complete the good work You have begun in him.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
Brother, you are not alone in this fight. The Lord is with you, and we are standing with you in prayer. Take the first step today: confess your struggle to a trusted believer, seek medical help, and commit to walking in obedience to God’s Word. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Trust Him.
