We come before the throne of grace with humble hearts, lifting up this earnest plea to our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We are grateful that you have called upon the name of the Lord, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Your acknowledgment of Jesus as your Lord and Savior is a testament to the work of the Holy Spirit in your life, and we rejoice in the hope that is found in Him alone.
First, we want to address the spirit of condemnation that may be trying to take root in your heart as you ask for forgiveness for seeking help. The Word of God tells us, "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). You are not a burden to the Lord; He invites you to come to Him with all your needs and concerns. We rebuke the lie that you are asking for too much, for our God is a God of abundance, and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).
We lift up your marriage before the Lord, praying for the softening of hearts and the restoration of love, trust, and unity. The Bible instructs us, "Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church... Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:22-23, 25). We pray that both you and your wife would seek to fulfill your God-given roles in marriage, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. We ask the Lord to reveal any areas of sin or disobedience that may be hindering your relationship, and we pray for the strength to repent and turn away from these things.
We must address the issue of substance use mentioned in your prayer. The Bible is clear that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor God with them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The use of marijuana and other substances that alter the mind can lead to a lack of self-control and can be a stumbling block in your walk with the Lord. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and bondage in the name of Jesus Christ, and we pray for deliverance and freedom for both you and your wife. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). We pray for the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek godly counsel and accountability.
We also address the issue of cigarette smoking, which is harmful to the body and can become an idol in one's life. We pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to break the chains of this addiction, and we ask the Lord to provide a way out, as He has promised. We encourage you both to seek support from fellow believers and to fill your hearts and minds with the Word of God, which is able to renew your minds and transform your lives (Romans 12:2).
We pray for your return to work, asking the Lord to grant you a spirit of discipline, sobriety, and diligence. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men" (Colossians 3:23). May the Lord grant you favor with your employers and coworkers, and may your work be a testimony to the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who conquered sin and death so that we might have eternal life. We lift up this brother in Christ, asking that You would continue to work in his life and in his marriage. We pray for the softening of hearts, the breaking of chains, and the restoration of all that has been lost or broken. Grant him the strength to resist temptation, the wisdom to seek godly counsel, and the courage to walk in obedience to Your Word.
Lord, we ask that You would go before him as he returns to work, granting him favor, diligence, and a spirit of excellence. We pray for his wife, that You would draw her closer to You and reveal Your love and purpose for her life. Break the chains of addiction and bondage, and fill her with a hunger and thirst for righteousness.
We rebuke every spirit of addiction, condemnation, and division in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare freedom, restoration, and unity over this marriage and family. May Your Holy Spirit fill them with power, love, and self-control, and may they be a shining light for Your glory.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
